I'm out of town and couldn't attend. sucks!! How was it, looked pretty good on TV. Beckerman was bad in the first half, hate to say it. and Jóhannsson just isn't ready yet. Boys played tough and had some quality chances. What did folks think?

I was there... it was very disappointing overall. Beckerman was awful, Dempsey disappeared for practically the entire game (wouldn't move towards a pass even a single time), Guzan was asleep and didn't set up his wall well. I personally thought Johnansson brought a lot of energy and created most of the chances the USA had. I was shocked he was subbed out.
Jamaica played great and did what they had to do.
In the stadium we had no clue what the call was that led to Jamaica's second goal. Replay shows the "offense" to be very difficult to judge, probably trifling, and the AR that made the call was WAY out of position to make that call. Very unfortunate, and very bizarre for a high-level ref to do that.
We stayed for about 60 minutes of the Mexico match. That was insane. I'm glad we left when we did because apparently things got completely out of control in the stands. Bottles and cups of everything under the sun were being thrown everywhere (including into the other fans, not just onto the field). There were brawls in the stands. And all that from the team that ended up winning in very controversial fashion. Go figure.

Guzan was asleep and didn't set up his wall well. Nevermind, I'm watching the game on TV now, and the wall was in the right place but maybe should have jumped up. It was a great free kick.

That strike by Bradley was a rocket. Too bad it didn't go in. I agree that Dempsey looked invisible. Johansson tried his best to equalize but just couldn't finish. Would've liked to see Yedlin sooner too. His pace creates opportunities. Congrats to Jamaica...they earned it. Can't say the same for Mexico though. They shouldn't have even been in the semis. Their fans aren't doing them any favors as far as respect goes either.

The AR was in the perfect position right on the line. Guzan's an idiot for doing it and not having better awareness of his position. They even showed it on the big screen that he was at least a yard over the line with the ball in his hand. Also, didn't they always teach us to jump when we were in a wall - our guys stayed flat on the ground and that's why the free kick got up and over the wall. My daughter got called for that at state cup this year (except in her case she was punting and it was only her foot that was past the line so it was a bad call .

I saw where he was, and he was probably about two or three yards behind it. Those decisions sometimes don’t go in your favor. There’s a free kick, you’ve got defend it and he’s taken it well.” It just isn't a call made at this level... pretty much ever.

See photo... AR was out of position... so was the camera for that matter. So maybe he was out... but it was VERY close (less than a foot, and that's with follow-through making it look worse than it probably is), and the AR wasn't in line to TRULY know. Attachments:

I was in the corner on Guzan's left at the 200 level and it looked like his arm was out of the box. I agree it's a rare, if ever, call, but it's in the rules. It looks worse when the momentum carries his whole body out of the box. On another note, Beckerman was awful and Dempsey played too many cute little flicks and backheels. Also not sure why Mix came in for Beckerman as that's not exactly a position he can play well.
