I continue to be impressed with this facility. Plenty of parking (close to fields), fields in good shape, reasonably priced concessions, trainers on site, clean restrooms. I wish Metro Atlanta had a facility like this. Maybe we should just play Georgia State Cup there. It's closer to Atlanta than Columbus anyway. When will Lakepointe be ready?

Love the MESA/CESA complex. 1st soccer complex I ever went to with free WiFi. Lol last time we were there late last fall the fields were coming apart. Even had mesh netting sticking out in many places providing many tripping hazards. In their defense though, it really rained a lot last year and the metro Atlanta fields looked pretty bad too.

That facility is gorgeous - a high school friend of mine is one of the trainers they keep on staff from St. Francis - she's disappointed neither of her kids want to play soccer. I've heard the Army Corps of Engineers helped design the fields to improve drainage and prevent erosion - metro Atlanta clubs/parks should look into that. And Lake Point is ready isn't it? NASA is using it for their trainings and tournaments now.

2nd, 3rd, 4th that. Fields were spot on. Unreal surfaces, you can't ask for a nicer pitch. Some of the fields could be a little wider, but thats not a complaint! I'm so impressed with that facility. Thats why they are hosting regionals next year and are constantly hosting these types of events. I believe a hospitality tax helps support the development, and I believe its still a public/private partnership. There is no question those fields bring big money to Greenville, I think there are 3 or 4 RPL weekends there and everyone is stuck in Greenville for 1.5 to 3 days. I used the word stuck only to highlight, folks really have to spend money in Greenville and stay at least 1 night in a hotel. Makes me jealous, because Atlanta has nothing like that. I think this is where Atlanta United FC or what ever they are called dropped the ball, they should have been looking to build a MESA like complex that truly gives back to the community where locals can take advantage of it as well. Its too bad Georgia Soccer Park really never took off. Henry Counties facility and Allen Creek are close, but still not a MESA.

MESA is beautiful. I'm guessing that they have sponsors (based on field names) and thats how theyre able to keep them up so nicely?
Lakepoint is beautiful too...not sure why not being used to its full potential?

IMO - the biggest difference in MESA and Lake Point is the sponsorships - MESA has multiple for the field names (more companies - less likely to make one the ruling entity) - Lake Point is Coca Cola exclusive - which is why you cannot bring water/drinks on site and are hostage to the Coke Products (which sucks for my Gatorade/Pepsi family).

Isn't Mesa the complex that they built in like 18 inch gravel drain pots around the fields to help with getting the water to drain off the fields quickly?

Yes. Army Corps of engineers and a bunch of engineering and horticulture interns from Clemson worked on the design. I remember the big write up in my Clemson alumni magazine.
