Again, nothing major to report. We had NASA parents and players visit us this weekend for a u15 CL2 game. It was very physical. the ref called nothing in the first half, despite plenty of actionable fouls by both teams (my opinion, but echoed by others) and didn't call much in the second, except a very late direct kick, which was counter to all his other officiating. This lead to some parents getting a bit loud, but standard parent grumping.
Remember, I don't post here about the game, just the parents. One NASA dad was riled up because the ref didn't call much of anything and expressed the thought the ref was bought and paid for by GSA, and his kid was victimized. I'm a GSA parent, and can tell anyone out there I can't afford to pay off a ref for a kids' soccer game. I don't care to find out what that would cost, or who would be interested. All parents need to remember their 14/15-year old athletes are not toddlers, they play a contact sport (because they like it) and don't need mommy or daddy to swoop in and embarrass the hell out of them.
So, my only mentionable is a NASA u15 CL2 Dad bent out of shape about the ref, but nothing crazy, so they get a thumbs half or three quarters of the way up. He didn't start a fight, throw anything, or yell at other players, which are the real criteria of a psycho parent nomination. Only minor cross-talk between parents, which met with equally horrified looks from both sides.
I started this thread after seeing a real psycho parent earlier this season, and expected more of the same each weekend. Maybe she was the anomaly, and most parents are actually normal.
Did anyone see anything (verifiable) that was worthy of the designation? the NASA CL2 u15 parents get my stamp of approval for behavior.
