I ask this because I know of two rec leagues with more than 150 teams total in metro atlanta that will reject the age mandate. OI I have heard that two metro church and school based leagues with 1500 or so kids playing from U16 to U12 (I think) that are also saying no.
Is anyone hearing of the same? Or are these outliers?

I have wondered this myself. I doubt anyone would really do anything to them, assuming they are sanctioned through some body that trickles up to USSF, but it could make it hard if they go to any tournaments (there are rec tournaments).

The church near us has a large rec soccer program. They play 6v6 with goalies at U5. I doubt they will follow the mandate but also don't think they are the ones you would want to emulate.

Most of those church clubs and leagues have no affiliation with Georgia Soccer or US Soccer so they can play by any rules they want. Same goes for the Hispanic, school, or indoor/Futsal leagues. As long as they play in house too, then Georgia Soccer has no authority over them. That's why you already have different leagues playing either 3v3 or 4v4 at U6, or don't have GKs at U8.

To be fair, most big Atlanta clubs that WERE under the Georgia Soccer umbrella have been ignoring the Georgia Soccer rules for years.
Notably, 11v11 at U11.
So are they are any real consequences? I guess going to tournaments is the big issue.

I haven't heard of any major club that will reject the age mandate at the academy or select level - - Rec leagues may be a different thing altogether. Bottom line, Georgia Soccer has adopted it, so why would a serious club that wants to remain affiliated not follow suit?
This all said, amen to previous posts re: rule breaking. as long as there are rules, they will be broken by the cunning and powerful interests.

So there will be two potential ways of setting up teams for thousands of kids ... for rec soccer that may or may not belong to GA Soccer, and then for club.
I don't worry too much about what U6 does with team size, etc on the rec level. My oldest child's ECNL team has 3 girls (all friends) who played coed up to age 8 and they seem to be doing ok now on a high level.
Concorde claims the Ashford YMCA teams in its #s. But if the Y won't go to age mandate, what then?

But that means no Player passes, State rosters, RIAS scheduling or ability to play in Georgia Soccer Tournaments. Some prefer that and going by their own rules, and not having to pay Georgia Soccer $15 a player.
