Ok, I've been thinking about this a little bit more.
And For some odd reason, I used the word "So" alot......
So - we all know that the age mandate is a done deal for 2016.
So - we also all know that is sounds like based upon the prior discussion at the GA soccer town hall meeting, that US youth soccer will delay pushing the small sided mandate down until 2017 for various reasons - small fields for adding an additional player for 7v7, 9v9 and age mandates not necessarily aligning with small sided mandate etc.
So - we know that boys DA will not be switching to the new age mandates until fall 2017. Rumors of them switching to a naming mechanism such as u15s/u17s vs u16/u18s to easily adjust. (personally I think they should have a team for evey single year of age, but I'm a nobody...)
So - we also all know that girls DA is coming, but we don't have to worry about that for at least another year.
So - for the Fall 2016 season, a 2004 boy playing DA will be considered u12 and playing 9v9.
So - for the Fall 2016 season, a 2004 boy not playing DA will be considered u13 and "I" assume will be playing 11v11? I could be very wrong on this.
So - lets take a step back, there will be 7 clubs (Concorde, Atlanta United, UFA, Lanier, SSA, AFC, & NASA) fielding u12 boys DA teams. From the original ppt presentation from US Soccer each club would have 2 teams and carry 26 kids, That is 7*26 = 182. I repeat 182 2004 boys playing DA in the state of Georgia. Wow. So that means the remaining kids at the remaining clubs will be playing 11v11.... I have no issues with the volume of kids, its that the clubs that were not awarded DA, what are/ and who are they going to play and will they be playing classic ball? 11v11?
So - hence the problem with the age mandate and small sided soccer. Maybe this is changed for the fall, but we will see.
So - to the entire point, and why I regurgitated all this again -- What the heck is going to happen with the 2004 girls for the fall 2016. Will they all be playing 11v11 and athena ball?
So - You get where I'm going with this, when it comes to gender equity, title IX and any other empowering decisions to help females and athletics, why the heck are the (top) 2004 boys currently mandated to play 9v9, but the girls will be playing 11v11?
So - In summary, I hope this issue was discussed at great lengths at these "meetings" and forgive me if it was.
So - as you can tell as well, 182 boys playing DA in the fall, its safe to say ODP will be dead starting next year for all new ages. How will if at all and will they adapt.
So - I'll go back to work!!!!
