So disturbing on so many levels, what has happened to our beloved USMNT? The upper most pinnacle of US Soccer in this country is to be frank, an absolute disgrace.
I'm really at a loss for words. so many factors at play, and so many things are just wrong in general. This isn't just a soccer phenomenon, its youth sports phenomenon. Our club, our coaches, and our parents are all being misguided on why "our" kids need and should play competitive sports.

One thing would help is if Klinsmann would stop playing players out of position. Six of 11 starters were out of position last night.

I can't wait for them to take over the girls' development too. That'll be awesome.

There has to be a change. These players clearly aren't being motivated and have no continuity as a team. Everyone involved from trainers to players to JK need to be questioned. As much as I question player selection and identification these guys still have to be decent players but they look horrible. The 2nd goal looked like a goal you see watching 6 year olds. Just so disturbing.

I think he's doing ok now but the team game plan or players selected really don't suit him. He's the engine of the team but it doesn't matter if the engine is great if the car has 4 flat tires or if each wheel is trying to pull in a different direction. They just lack cohesiveness and that pretty much lies at the feet of the manager.

In other news, England looks good. Let's hope Rooney stays out through the Euros...

I've said before but taking off the rose colored glasses and not being a homer-
Take the 1994 WC team that lost 1-0 to Brazil in the knockout stage and compare that team to today's team, I don't think we're that much further along even with DA amd the money pumped into youth soccer. Back then we also had a number of players with dual citizenship: Thomas Dooley, Marcelo Balboa, Tab Ramos, Roy Wegerle, Ernie Stewart, Hugo Perez, Fernando Clavijo and Frankie Klopas if I remember them all correctly, just as we have many players with dual citizenship on the current team. I don't think we've produced a Claudio Reyna type player since that team. Are we fitter and better tactically? Probably so but I don't think we are light years better technically even with all the money invested into youth soccer. Watch the recent clip of the U12 Barcelona Boys v the U12 Real Madrid team at a recent match, the gulf between those players and our young players is huge. Jurgen deserves some criticism with playing players out of position and an inconsistent lineup but at the National Coach can only work with the players,at his disposal, culturally I don't think we'll ever close that gap. The days of being fitter and having a blue collar work rate isn't enough anymore.

That is what the USMNT should do to a minnow every single time. I don't care how hard it is to travel to Guatemala. That country with a 65 yr old, rent jumping, dine and dash striker should never ever beat the USMNT if the USMNT envisions itself as a CONCACAF power.
As for the U23s, that is our future. Totally outclassed. How many shots did they have over the two legs?As Alejandro Moreno said at the end of the broadcast last night, and I am paraphrasing, those two performances and then not qualifying, again, for the Olympics, is an indictment of USSF and the millions and millions of dollars they have spent on developing players through their academy system. He also pointed out that the real crime was not being humiliated by Colombia, they are just far superior, but losing to Honduras in our region and needing to play these matches to get in.
I have 2 more questions, why did we not send Yedlin and Pulisic to play with the U23s? We needed to get to the Olympics. The senior side could not beat Guatemala without those two players?

Ha just said the same thing in another thread about Pulisic, seems foolish in my opinion. They wanted him to get his cap to be locked to the US team, but if he is that good, he should have been with the 23s.
And again, forgot about Yedlin, kid should have been with the 23s also. Would have liked to see what he can do against kids his age.

They overall played like a bunch of frustrated thugs. Very disappointed in them not being able to keep their heads. Suppose this is what happens when a group of players probably have been told they are awesome and then when they were brought face to face with their total lack of awesomeness.
