once the flood gates opened they just poured in. Colombia clearly hasn't played, but I'd give them credit for working hard till the final whistle. Hard to judge from a game like that, but the "youth" on this team have shown they can play better soccer than the previous roster. I think this team is better than what was see during the world cup.
Allie Long looked strong and will fight for those final spots. Dunn doesn't freaking stop, relentless. She just looks like she is a player thats out to prove everyone wrong. She relies on athleticism, speed and tenacity, but man she doesn't stop. Shes very suarez like. Question is can she do it against the better competition, didn't she struggle a bit against france and germany, I've already forgotten??
I think for the olympics they have to take 3 keepers, which only leaves 2 spots in my opinion -- I think Whitney Engen gets one, as backup center back, and the other I'd go with Allie Long. Which leaves Mewis, O'reilly and Sonnett on the outside looking in.

Versus the NOT PAID Colombian ladies...I heard that is why Lady Andrade (yes, the same one that sucker punched Wambach during the 2012 Olympics) was not there...she spoke out against the Colombian Federation for not paying them so they did not have her travel with the team. Hope they let her play this weekend.
Anyway, Long might have been the best player during the first 45. She might be better at Brian's job than Brain, but we would need to see her against more teams obviously. But she was the best player during the first 25 minutes, before Colombia started to lose their legs, when they were still playing with speed and fierceness. She can also play up top. Mewis might be better at Horan's job than Horan (she is a midfielder on this team, by the way, not a forward). Mewis plays faster and has better vision (she seems to see what is going to happen before Horan would). She is also just as skilled and faster, but she might be more of a one position (holding mid) player. Kelly O'Hara was the worst USWNT player by a large margin last night. I do not think she has been that great the whole year. There have to be other options. Press is great against tired teams and minnows. She has not looked good against top competition. Yes, Dunn can keep playing like an energizer bunny against top competition. Heather O'Reilly looks like she has had the confidence beaten out of her. Unfortunate.
I am not sold on the 3 keepers need. What you need to do is take 2 keepers, and have, as a backup, a field player who is serviceable in that role. Pele used to train as the third keeper for Brasil just in case.

You hit the nail on the head -- O'Hara wasn't good, and was surprised she was left in as long as she was. I guess everyone can have a bad night, but she looked lost. We Georgians can blame the cold for her performance...... (why was this game played there....)
O'Reilly just isn't the same player for sure and you can tell like you said lost that gritty tenacity arrogance she had. Her game is getting to the endline and it seems like she can't do that at all anymore.
To be honest, none looked good in 1v1 situations. All struggled to get around colombia players when going 1v1. They all tried to go through players vs around them...
Yes Tobin looked magical at times etc and should have set up the first goal prior to the first one (she should have played it sooner), but watch this highlight of the very first goal by Dunn --- what the heck is Tobin doing? First touch she tries to nutmeg the girl for a shot on goal, ball comes back to her feet again, and she tries to limp kick at goal again---- what are we 6 years old? Yes she had a nasty goal, but not sure how a player can have such highs and then do what we just witnessed below....

If they don't pay their players they don't deserve to have their country name spelled properly. And it's Columbia University not University of Columbia (the one in New York anyway)

Sounds like they will only take 2 keepers.
