How/or when do you know if your team has to play in? Do they just slot in the top 10 teams or so and let the others play in against the remaining teams?

How/or when do you know if your team has to play in? Do they just slot in the top 10 teams or so and let the others play in against the remaining teams? it has to do with the number of teams that apply. You will have groups with 4, 8, 12 or 16. more or less of that #, play in games have to happen to bring it to that magic #. So for example if 15 teams apply, then the # would have to get to 12 and who plays who has to do with the lowest seeded team. The tournament will let you know if you have a play in game and a schedule will be posted www.georgiastatecup.com/photos/tid/STATEGA/user/How_play-in_games_are_determined.pdf

Are play in games typically associated with CL1 or Athena A teams vs RPL? Thanks, Normally yes. There are 16 teams from each age group that go to State Cup over the holiday weekend, if more than 16 apply then the playoffs happen. For instance if 20 teams apply then teams seeded 13 thru 20 will be involved in play off games with 13 v 20 14 v 19 15 v 18 16 v 17 The higher seed plays the lowest seed and so on. So unless 30 teams apply it is unusual for an RPL team to have to play in.

But yes, its very rare for a low seeded team to have to play an RPL team in Round Robin, HOWEVER if you're the last seeded team you will have to play the highest ranked team in the age group during the tournament Group A 1 8 9 16 Group B 2 7 10 15 Group C 3 6 11 14 Group D 4 5 12 13

Can the seeding change based on how teams are doing in spring? And are play in games played at location of hire seeded team?

Shapo: No to spring games having an impact. State Cup seeding is only based on Fall games/standings. Yes to play in games being at higher seed's field.

So no play in for your daughter's team. Their group will be Division 4, with TH Gold, UFA Norcross Premier, and GSA Red.

SoccerMom: The first U16 girls list did not follow the Georgia Soccer new rule around teams playing up in age getting the 5th seed. Concorde Fire Central played U17 last Fall and finished 3rd. They were placed in the 2nd seed in the first list. The new list puts them in the 5th seed which follows the new rule.

So if you play up an age group does it matter where you finish and then get put in fifth?

So, since there are 18 teams that have been accepted for the U15 girls, will they have #17 & #18 seeds play, and the winner of that game will then play the #16 seeded team to see who actually becomes that 16th team for the round robin games?
