I don't see how this is a point against them? During the Women world Cup in Canada, something similar was offered. It wasn't cheap and it didn't even include tickets to the matches or guarantee that you could buy one.

It wasn't cheap and it didn't even include tickets to the matches or guarantee that you could buy one. Well, USSF bemoans pay to play, criticizes leagues for pay to play, talks about how it is freezing out talent, while also placing roadblocks to mechanisms that would allow clubs to re-coupe investments in player development in collusion with MLS that results in parents having to pay, then they schedule an event that only the most wealthy families could afford. Just because they made a bad decision once does not mean they get a pass for repeating that bad decision. I guess the one thing we can say for them is that they are giving equal treatment to the poor unfortunate wealthy boys. I have felt sorry for that demographic over the years. What a questionable PR move.

Yes, this is for the wealthy kids. It has nothing to do with having the most talented kids there. This is simply a camp...a very expensive one, nowhere does it say that your kid has to be any good.
If it was for the best kids, they would pick them from their camps and then it would be free. Its also tax deductible so, fundraising is wide open

It could feel and sound to some people like buying influence.

Its a bad PR move. yes we know this is a common thing -- fantasy camps for big bucks. But given the current landscape etc, bad PR move.

Some lucky youths if their parents are willing to pay for this . Maybe parents living vicariously through their kids. Not that I would know anything about that .
