How does UFA have 2 teams make semis yet very few made DA?
Makes no sense. Surely 75% of each roster can play DA. I know there are many that u16 team that should be playing DA but didn't make Atlanta United.
Doesn't make a lot of sense --- hence the problem. It's not a team sport anymore at the youth level for player identification and development.

Could be by choice or family reasons. There is a boy on the ODP team I work with that could easily make a DA team and probably play for Atlanta FC's DA team but he is on scholarship at a very good private school and he wants to play HS soccer, playing DA would not allow him that opportunity.

Coaches look for different things. We know GU and CF had success in DA, to varying degrees. Time will tell if AU's Academy teams succeed.
Personally, I like to see teams earn it like UFA has been doing every year, moreso than teams who are declared 'superior' by anything other than competitive merit.

Great question, and a rhetorical one in my opinion. That is because either of the current UFA top teams in those age categories, IMO, would beat the corresponding AU DA team at this time. And not to take away from the boys that made AU and their achievement, I suspect some selections included marketing considerations.
