Team Managers and Coaches:
Update regarding Plant City. National Weather Service has upgraded TD9 to Tropical Storm Hermine. Landfall in the Big Bend (Tampa area) is now expected around +/- 2:00 am Friday. This later arrival means more rain between now and Friday. Plant City has received around 3" inches so far today. Predictions are for another 4-6" inches of rain between now and Friday. The fields have standing water now on and the city cannot guarantee the fields will be playable by Saturday or even Sunday at this point. Thus, for the safety of the players and the integrity of the games we have cancelled games at Plant City.
We did have an Option B in place, 8 turf fields set aside, two at Ed Radice in Tampa and six in Davenport/Orlando. The bigger issue now is the overall safety of our SRPL families traveling into Florida from driving and flight delays and cancellations. For this reason, we have decided to cancel the games in Florida. Safety is key and our priority for our players and families.
We apologize for this inconvenience and with the unpredictability of the tropical storm we are confident this is the right decision. This should allow teams with ample time to cancel hotel reservations and flights.
Over the coming days I will be working with club directors and coaches in terms of rescheduling, looking at intrastate and interstate games, and seeing what rain dates will work best. The games from Decatur, AL on August 21 will also rescheduled as part of this process. Updates will be forthcoming.please be patient. Thank you.
SRPL

New here. Makes sense but some clubs didn't pass this along right away.

Yea, got notice from them mid afternoon Wed and immediately told everyone so they cancel hotels. On the other hand, this weekend is the Disney Qualifier in Orlando and they didn't call that off. It would really suck for people to make that long drive/flight just to do pk's if weather and fields are bad

It would really suck for people to make that long drive/flight just to do pk's if weather and fields are bad Last time I looked, there are hardly any GA teams in the Qualifier this year so it's probably mostly FL teams and they are acutely aware of the weather right now so I'm sure the tournament will notify them if there are any changes.

Yea not many, but I know of at least two teams that are on the road today for it. From what I heard they only got 1 email beg of the week saying that they were monitoring the weather and nothing else. SRPL emailed everyday with status which I can appreciate
