SRPL in Nashville the last three days. 81 total games for Girls U15-19. Our team has the same center ref for all three of our games. What a joke. And, fields 100 x 70, barely.

Assuming that was a bad thing...... (having the same center ref)

Was your coach upset about it also?
Seems very unusual for sure, but can't find anything in the rules about it being "illegal"
With all the games going on, it does seem a little bit odd.

Yeah, it's dumb and should never happen. Not illegal, but common sense says it shouldn't be done. The ref himself should bring it up as well when he sees he's doing the same team for the third(or second) day in a row.

Suggestion: send a brief e-mail to the assignor. They're usually listed on the tourney site. Express your concerns.

A woman at the fields who said she was the assignor gave me some BS story and was not concerned at all. And, the facility was not great, but adequate. Small fields and sloping sidelines and corners. Long, thick grass.

Two words - REFEREE SHORTAGE. Guess it's not just in GA!
And the U17's and U18's (2000's and 1999's) were First Division RPL not SRPL. Those two age groups got cancelled because they were supposed to be in Florida.

Those two age groups got cancelled because they were supposed to be in Florida. No shortage, just not proper rotation. All ages in Nashville were SRPL 1st Division, if you want to be semantic and accurate.

Was the ref good? Maybe you were lucky.. First game good, next two, not so much. But, that is irrelevant. Even if the guy was great for all three, it was a stupid thing to do.

I really don't see the issue. You had referees. You had the same center. He didn't suck. Maybe that ref prefers a particular age group over others or those games fit his schedule. There's no rule saying you have to have rotating referees and schedulers really try to accommodate the referee's preferences and schedule. I just don't see this as an issue. Now if the ref were negligent or let too many bad plays go then I'd complain. (And no I'm not being snippy or trying to start anything - just not seeing this as a negative. Peace out)

Bad assigning, wonder how many other teams had similar experience We were in Greenville,SC, SRPL U19. We had the same ref as Center for one game, then he was assistant ref for the second. We had a different ref for the third game. What was striking was that the center referees looked like they were in their mid-fifties or late, even; and the assistants looked like pubescent teens. The Center ref we had, spent the whole match doing 360s in the same spot, made some bad calls as a result. While the assistants were puny, short of bredth AND breath, teenagers who probably had eaten a pop tart just before the match. That is some nonsense, when you have boys to men running the field tryna impress the college coaches on the sidelines. #smh

With the shortage in refs it's only going to get worse. So unless you are a coach or a certified ref then you have nothing to complain about. They may have wanted the same ref crew for the weekend just to make things easier for the refs and coaches, especially since you have to pay the refs cash before each game. As a coach if I get 3 decent refs I'm ecstatic because in 2 weeks when all levels are playing its gonna be rough covering all games.
Did your kid's coach care???
From what I got from our RPL team in Nashville was the fields were like u12 fields, the refs were good and the Carolina teams left with a lot of yellow cards. Helluva lot better then having to reschedule those Orlando/Lakeland games.

Our club was able to reschedule and play some matches this weekend. Worked out good; we've completed our games vs. local opponents. Now we should be able to work in the rainout makeup games a little easier. Never did make up one of our matches from last season.

They make you go to Raleigh or Memphis or Orlando for that?? Wow...... (Haha please read the sarcasm) Wouldn't it be great if they gave all local teams the option of scheduling there own games on set weekends without travel?

Local teams can schedule their own make up games. just not regular season ones.

R3 is letting the teams schedule their own local games. There is too many games that need to be rescheduled and not enough time, it will be nice not to have to travel some

I'm saying it would be great if we could originally schedule them before the season. So for our '98s instead of playing Ambush, UFA, and SSA in Nashville or Greenville we could have scheduled each other over Labor Day weekend with no travel. But then that would cut into R3s hotel rewards...

I agree with you 100% except that in your case you have 4 ga teams, what happens when another state has only 1, then its all lopsided and you would still need to travel. I don't think there's an easy solution out there, bur glad we can play 1 local game ourselves
