Probably just because they can. You can post anything you want over their. Lies and total BS rumors. Its never been healthy. What is going on there is why this place was created -- a group of us wanted civil soccer discussions in a healthy environment. I think we get a lot of viewership here, just a little bit more hesitancy to post a thread etc.

When did coaches ever post there? Legitimately post?
I wasn't there long or much but I never got any more indication that forum was anything other than gossip and a haven for online bullying

Long overdue. There is sufficient anonymity here.

I wasn't there long or much but I never got any more indication that forum was anything other than gossip and a haven for online bullying you don't have to take my word for it but I know two former coaches who would post there from time to time going back about 5 years. I also heard that more than one team manager would post some Mis information about clubs as well. I would some post their life from the AGM. No more. I hope those who are reading this who used to post there will join the forum here.

I wasn't there long or much but I never got any more indication that forum was anything other than gossip and a haven for online bullying I've been posting on the other forum since it's inception, in the beginning I even posted my real name, I also developed a soccer podcast back in the mid 2000's focusing on Soccer in Georgia, I eventually got tired of the vitriol and childish comments so I stopped posting under my real name. I know many coaches and DOC's that post on the forum, some provide thoughtful insight, others post negative stuff about other clubs or misinformation in an effort to bolster their own recruiting abilities.

I thought about what time having q's and a's with coaches from different clubs in some routine manner, but never moved forward with it. Board didn't quite have enough activity. I know a few obviously like soccerfan30 the great dreaddy and atlcoach84

@soccerhouse I've been involved with soccer in Georgia since 2000, I have served in various capacities: Soccer Director, DOC, Referee, an AGC for GA Soccer, as well as coaching at the club, ODP, high school and college level here in Atlanta. I developed a soccer podcast a number of years ago, it wasnt anything elaborate by today's standards but I invested a few hours a week trying to create weekly or biweekly episodes, with my relationships here in GA I had access to many people in the local soccer community and tried to parlay that into an informative podcast. I would do commentary on local high school games, Silverbacks and Atlanta Beat games, reviews on soccer books, movies, magazines, interviews with soccer people in the community. I even sought out unsigned bands to spotlight their music for the intro and outro segments each week. Donna (other forum admin) even provided me webspace to create a domain to host the weekly episodes. I tried to maintain it for an extended period but all the negativity on the other forum and my schedule eventually led me to give it up. For your other request a Q and A would be great, I'd be happy to contribute from time to time.

Give those a shot here.
I beseech you, ask Donna to shut that other site down.it is an embarrassment to Georgia soccer on all levels.

I've noticed that since the other forum has gone downhill and fast some of the same users who were the root cause with their vitriol comments have migrated here. I've noticed that the comments on this forum have a wee bit more bite. Let's remember that this forum is about the beautiful game and all that goes with that. I would hate for this forum to go the way of the other.

Maybe start a topic and the coach(es) can contribute? I'd be interested in hearing their expertise as well and will try to think of some good questions.

Yea, last year I looked into a chat system that I added to a page that the forum could host, but it was extremely unstable. I'll dig around again and see if they have any updated extensions etc. Might just be a preset up q & a, where I ask folks to submit potential questions. The questions would be geared to not be club specific etc, nor teams. More broader about coaches backgrounds, philosophy, what they focus on at age x,y and z. What they do when they spot a special player etc.
Hopefully more to come.....

Thats my two cents. Having a Coach/Referee perspective will help us as sideline parents a lot. Thanks

If you ask me, the destruction of the old forum is past due. It offered less and less since I started reading it and now it has just devolved into juvenile madness. I find this forum much more helpful and productive. One of my boys is now in the older age groups and I find that the older he gets, he just want to have fun with his friends and enjoy the game. He knows he isn't going to play in college or professionally and just want to enjoy the game. I wish all coaches, administrators and parents at the Academy and Select levels would put more emphasis on having fun and less emphasis on winning. It's just youth soccer. We have more than 90,000 children playing youth soccer in Georgia and after looking at all the rosters for the current national teams (both genders), there are 22 Georgians playing for the national teams, U14 to U23 and the national team squads. That is 0.00024 percent of all Georgia players. I'm sure the percentage of Georgia players who get college scholarships is higher but not by very much, I bet.
So for the vast majority of Georgia youth soccer players, playing soccer is about fun, whether you are playing rec, academy or select. There was nothing about the old forum that appealed to fun. So good riddance.

So good riddance. If the other forum was to be believed, every poster there had a kid in either ECNL or DA with a full ride scholarship to an ACC or SEC school. Anyone who ever posted anything different was told their kid sucked or to go back to rec ball. I think I looked at that old forum a few times - left - took a shower to get the filth off and came here. That said, I've known grown adults who were there non stop believing all that was spewed there. Typically they were also your more obnoxious sideline parents and most likely to stir stuff up at the club. To say good riddance to that place is the understatement of the century!

Four years ago when my oldest first played Pre Academy the Coach told me to stay away from "Georgia Soccer Forum" basically because there is a lot of stuff that is just not true and it's not a healthy way to get information. Curious me, I did google it and was amused at first on what was all posted. Over time I completely disregarded that site as it is inappropriate and quite disgusting, I did not want any part of that. I believe about a year later this forum opened up, which was a breath of fresh air! I have been in and out checking up on this forum. It is good to see it thriving with healthy conversation. I'll look into contributing more in the future and asking more questions. Thank you all.

Postings from obnoxious parents about your club or coach sucks, I can handle. But lately it is not even that. Once a week you might get a 'Coach XXX sucks' post. Mostly it is auto-generated gibberish or political postings.
I am curious to know what tool the hacker(s) is using to pull random words and phrases found on the forum, mash them together and then create gibberish posts. Hats off to them, it is a good thorough job.

It's a cockroach at this point. Apparently indestructible, too.
There is anonymity here if you want it, but credibility can be earned, too. Best of both worlds.
