Not convinced that I care one bit. What do you hope to see happen?
I know Kim Bowen. She's been there for years and knows it upside down and sideways. If she doesn't get the job, it better be somebody that is universally loved and respected.

I don't know Kim Bowen, but I know that I am concerned about "business as usual" at Georgia Soccer.
Politics to move teams to divisions where they should not be, and age cheating becoming more and more common.... those are two of my larger concerns with youth soccer.
I don't know Kim Bowen, and maybe she won't let some of these things stand if she is chosen. I hope not. But maybe Georgia Soccer needs a big change from people who have been involved in it day to day for years and may have too many close ties to root out some of the bad things. Maybe Georgia Soccer needs an outsider who can swing a big heavy club for awhile and fix some things that nobody can admit are broken.

jash is correct, that was my initial thought, that it did seem like "business as usual" mentality, don't ruffle any feathers from some folks i've spoken with about the position.

The Executive Director doesn't really have the power to make the changes that jash is speaking of. Those things are handled by committees that are appointed by the board. To make changes there you need to get new people elected. Finding people who really want to do the job is one problem. Getting them elected is another.
On the other hand, change on the board is inevitable since members are limited to two terms in any one position - a maximum of four years. The key is finding good people to take over as the old ones move out.

While you are undoubtedly right, my experience with other organizations with this structure is that good leadership can make a really big difference. What I want is someone who will lead and help take Georgia Soccer in the right direction.

Any organization is only as good as it's members. If membership is only willing to complain, then their experience won't be any good. If membership is willing to participate and do some work, anything is possible.
I want to clarify my statement that "I know Kim Bowen". We aren't personal friends, nor from the same club. I met her on the sidelines when my son's 2001 boys team played her twins up in Gainesville, starting from U9. First she was just as a familiar face, then I learned her name when registering teams for Academy. Cup. What's cool is that she was always complimentary of both teams, equally. She was engaging and a true patron of the game of soccer. I know nothing of her work ethic or her place in the politics of soccer. (Don't care).
