I've enjoyed bobby dodd, the open air and the tail gaiting so an extra game there is great! However they are rescheduling the aug home games, thats not good news!! Atlanta United will not open Mercedes-Benz Stadium with a game on July 30. Instead, because of delays in the “normal surveying and analysis of the roof structure, as well as steelwork in the roof” that will push back the opening of the $1.5 billion stadium, Atlanta United’s scheduled first game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be Sept. 9 against Dallas. www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-united-won-open-mercedes-benz-stadium/VbaGcZx5exSzDMPFBF4NpI/

What I was told today by (a little birdie) is the operable roof is sagging, and they're adding steel members to fix the mess. Doing it in place, which is exponentially more difficult. It's a clusterpoke.
There is enormous pressure to open in time for the NFL season, for obvious ($$$$ on another planet) reasons.
I suspect it'll be $2 billion before they figure the roof out.

If that's true, then the lawsuit phase of construction will be much bigger than normal. Not surprising.

I can only imagine the errors and omissions claim that is coming, including all the AU season ticket-holder 'apology' gifts. www.gwcca.org/about-the-gwcca/campus-development/mbs/media-coverage/ provides an interesting look back at the story. It is amazing how different the final design looks compared to the original 360 architects (since acquired by HOK) "pantheon" concept. And the expensive operable roof opening keeps shrinking. But that roof mounted video screen is going to be bad to the Bone.

Give me a pitch with some seats and some cold beer and decent site lines and I'm happy. A replay screen is the only other essential item.

HA!! I just love the fact that right now we all are obsessed with the product on the field vs the spectacle of a new stadium or a shiny flashy 360 screen. There is no live band like falcons games, no hot dog races between innings,no cheerleaders on the dugouts, no videos shown to entertain the crowd, no kiss cams, no t shirt guns, no other BS ---- Its right now about the game on the field, its a beautiful thing. I think Atlanta has shown that you don't need a billion dollar stadium for soccer, you need a field and some goals, and some seats for 50,000 of your closest friends to watch some soccer.
