Teams, After thoughtful consideration, it is with regret that we will cancel the 2013 GSA Adidas Invitational. We have not been able to open our fields all week due to the amount of rain we received. There is more rain in the forecast and a hazardous weather outlook has been posted for portions of north and central Georgia, including potential tornadoes. In addition, we have teams that will be traveling from Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas. The traveling conditions are questionable at best. We take this decision and all the teams' safety very seriously. This if the first year in its 10 year history that we have canceled the GSA Adidas Invitational. We appreciate your patience and understanding. We tried out best to create a plan that could work. However, with the travel concerns and weather forecast we wanted to provide you an update as quickly as possible. We will contact all teams no later than Friday, Dec 13 with the plan for partial refunds. Thank you for your support of the 2013 GSA Adidas Invitational. We look forward to hosting your team next year. Sincerely, Chris Wagnon Tournament Director

GSA's college showcase is still on. All games moved to Silverbacks park.

It was a good decision. Now we can get on with our weekend. Most tournaments would try to start a few games in poor conditions. Then cancel with no refunds because 'at least you got to play some'. This time now there are few expenses incurred.
I remember a tournament where we played a rain slogged first game. No ball skills or passing possible. We started the second game when they cancelled. Since 'we got to play some' there were no refunds. Frustrating.

GSA is giving 40% back plus 20% off next year's tournament. Any word from Norcross?

Did anyone hear what Norcross refunded for canceling their tourney? I'm curious how it compares to GSA's 40%.

Haven't heard anything yet in regards to NSA and the Nike Cup refunds. I'm guessing we'll hear something pretty soon though.

Our GSA refund arrived yesterday. 40% isn't great but it's the first refund we've received. All our other rainouts were after a game or two had been played. Hopefully our spring tourneys will be sunny and warm!

I am curious on what the process/decision making tournament committees have concerning paying refunds back to cancelled tournaments. The AFU/AFC cancelled tournament back in last August gave 80% refunds to teams, while GSA only gave back 40%? Clubs and teams will be looking to enter tournaments that give higher refunds than those who do not. Let's see what happens with NSA.

It would be interesting to get a historical perspective on this. I wonder if we could collectively put together a list of tournament cancellations in the last 5-10 years and how much was refunded.
That might help other teams make decisions in the future, and would also hold the clubs' feet to the fire a little in terms of customer service.

Concorde is notorious for the 50% refund even when the entire tournament is cancelled before a single game is played. I think that's what has prompted NSA and GSA to give full (or as close to full as possible) refunds - to get teams to keep coming to their tournaments. Those two clubs are doing the right thing and I hope teams see that and continue to support them. Concorde has lost a lot of teams with their outright greed and arrogance regarding their tournaments.

We have not received a refund or any response back from NSA since the last posted message from them saying tournament has been cancelled. Two weeks ago we called and emailed asking for an update and we have heard nothing from Norcross. I believe it was mentioned this would be resolved by beginning-middle of January. I can only assume NSA refunded all of their teams that have entered the tournament.

100% refund from norcross!
Dear Norcross Nike Cup Participants,
Once again, we would like to take this opportunity to convey our regret and sincere apologies for being unable to bring you what we know would have been a memorable tournament experience for your team! We have many volunteers who worked extremely hard for months leading up to the Nike Cup and we were all as disappointed as you in the weather and the resulting field conditions. Cancelling the tournament was a very difficult and last resort decision for us.
We are, however, pleased to announce that we will be providing every team that was scheduled to play in the Nike Cup a full 100% refund of the tournament registration fee paid. We have been working hard this month to reconcile our numbers and meet with our board members to determine the proper course of action going forward. In order to maintain the integrity of our tournament, and to insure the continued support of the many teams that return to Nike Cup year after year, the decision to refund 100% of the fee was an obvious one.
We will begin sending out refunds by check and reimbursing credit cards payments starting Friday, January 24th. It is our sincere hope that this will be a big factor in your decision to attend Nike Cup 2014 over the weekend of December 6th and 7th, 2014.
We wish you all a successful and happy 2014 and look forward to hosting your team, once again, at the top tournament in the Southeast! See you on the pitch!
Tony Annan Executive Director

Good news for everyone and kudos to NSA for giving teams 100% refunds. As mentioned before clubs and teams will be looking into entering tournaments that will give favorable refunds in case of cancellation, instead of those who do not.

Maybe NSA is starting a trend...
Across the country, refunds are rarely given for tournament cancellations due to unplayable field conditions. Rockdale Youth Soccer Association is proud to offer a unique cancellation policy for our upcoming RYSA Spring Kickoff Classic.
*If the event is cancelled due to unsafe travel or unplayable field conditions, FULL REFUNDS will be given to all teams.
*If any individual games are cancelled due to unsafe travel or unplayable field conditions, teams will be refunded 1/3 of their registration fee for each game cancelled (finals excluded).
To take advantage of this awesome offer, register now for the -
