ECNL has had on the calendar for a year the Final Four set for next week in California. Yet, US Soccer decides to hold a camp that same time which means about 8 kids from the 01 final four teams won't be playing due to the requirement that they attend the camp. Seems unnecessary.

Skip the camp and go compete with the team that is counting on you.

US Soccer has their camps decided ahead of time as well, they just don't make it public. Unfortunately ECNL is now competing with US Soccer, next year it won't be an issue since the national players will be playing GDA.

They did the same thing last year. USSF are not interested in working in collaboration with anybody. They are an arrogant organization out of touch with the US soccer culture. Too bad. They could elicit easy and effective grass roots collaboration that would benefit everyone. They should read Das Reboot if they want to learn something about developing and implementing a national grass roots platform that both develops the game and feeds the National Team programs. Instead they do foolish things like this and essentially forcing clubs to join their pointless league. At the risk of sounding just as arrogant as USSF, I bet five of us sitting in a room could develop a better platform in about a week. Would need unlimited coffee and Panera.

Odd that they would have their calendar set but not make it public so people can work around it -- and not just ECNL. I wonder if it is somehow proprietary or something? I can't imagine why.

I can't imagine why. i don't really know, but the players that get invited to them know about them months ahead. They get told about them at the camps so they can start planning. ECNL is not going to change things around for a couple of kids, like someone said before, it happened last year too.

This is what happens when you have all these leagues. Make the right choice for your kid.

happened with Pugh's team last year, think there were 2 girls that missed the ecnl finals.
No question US soccer is at fault here and its BS. They don't give a shizat.
Yes you might know your invited months ahead, but you do not know months ahead that your team will be in the ecnl finals. Young children should not have to make decisions like this.
its not fair to put young kids in this position.
I'd be furious as a player if we worked all year to make the finals and then our top players couldn't play because they were invited to US soccer team camp. Its garbage. ECNL until next season is/was the premier girls league in america, they should schedule around their big events and showcases.
Its foolish.
