Anyone have any predictions? or follow any specific teams or Regions? My son is not playing HS this year so I will probably not be following it as closely. Although HS soccer is not the best soccer, it still is a lot of fun for the kids to play against rival high schools, club team mates, friends from other HS, etc.

I see that some of the schools near me were moved up a class and I'm wondering what the difference is size is.

It seems kind of unfortunate to have some schools in the same class as schools twice their size. Although maybe it matters more in sports that require larger teams such as football.

Biggest thing I see, as a parent from a AAAA school [my daughter is a senior this year], is that now Marist might have some competition for the girls state championship with the addition of St. Pius (and Woodward).

AAAA, generally consist of more rural and smaller-town schools - exceptions are

REGION 6
Arabia Mountain
Chamblee (ATL)
Columbia (ATL magnet school - dominate basketball)
Cross Keys (ATL)
Grady (ATL)
Marist (ATL private)
Redan (ATL)
St. Pius X (ATL private)
Stone Mountain (ATL)

Except for Marist last year, the Girls soccer state playoffs were pretty well evenly matched and consisted of rosters that MIGHT be half-full of select players.

Those schools, Marist in particular, does not belong in AAAA. They are too successful in EVERY sport (not necessarily winning all, but into state in practically every sport - which is something you do not find in a typical public school) to be doing it completely legit while they can and do draw from all over a very affluent and populated part of the state.

Private schools need to be pulled out of public school ball in my opinion.

Looks like they are trying to. Habersham Central is not in region 7 anymore so is not competing with most of the top schools in the list.
