Is clearly a true Atlanta team. Welcome to Atlanta where the players play...

Looks like the Crew are on a mission to save themselves. They played great. AU did too. What a game!

Where to begin.... One hell of a season and one hell of a game. Clearly the crowd brings that SEC feel to the stadium.
Weekday games are brutal, man traffic sucked getting down their last night. And this was at 4:00, 85 was a parking lot.
What a great freaking game though. Columbus played great and I thought we did as well. I was really impressed with the Crew though, didn't remember them playing so well last time we played them. No question the width of Mercedes Pitch is a game changer, really makes it a much better game to watch and leads towards some quality soccer. Our midfield just didn't look like themselves last night. For some reason, just could never completely get it together and play with the consistency and energy they normally have. Maybe that stretch of tight games in September wore this team out.
In the end, there is no question, they left it all there, guys were gassed giving it there all.
I don't understand the Asad sub. I get wanting to get Parkhurst in, but that move was puzzling taking him out so soon. Then in OT taking out Martinez was mind boggling, it is what it is.
Anyone notice we used 4 subs -- new rule in OT, teams get a 4th sub!

The schedule down the stretch wore us down and it showed. Our legs were gassed earlier in the game than they should have been.
Fantastic game though. Nothing to be ashamed of!

I was home and completely out of breath!!! Cannot imagine what the energy level was in the stadium. Can't be sad at the outcome, making it to the playoffs in their first year is amazing and a testament to the quality of the team.

To me, too many of our guys played too many minutes this year. But nobody ever quit, so Tata is doing something right. Hopefully AU can shed some contract weight and find more diamonds.
I probably have only watched a handful of MLS in twenty years - but the soccer has been better than I expected. Not LaLiga quality, but not a clown show.

I was there, so didn't get to here the broadcast of the game. What was Twellman saying about the game and the atmosphere? did he question any of the substitutions?

I watched it on UniMas, so I can't tell you. I don't understand much Spanish at all, but to me it is less irritating than American soccer commentators.

I was there, so didn't get to here the broadcast of the game. What was Twellman saying about the game and the atmosphere? did he question any of the substitutions? I watched starting around 75th minute after practice. Twellman was frustrated by the defensive shape of Atlanta that led to dangerous counter-attacks, he was out of breath and marveled at how open play was so late in the game by both teams. He wasn't stunned by Martinez sub and stated that Petersen had made late magic before as a sub, many times. I do think I'd rather Martinez had been there til the final kick. They did say Columbus had quieted the crowd so would be interested if that was the case. Compare that game to the Chicago hosted loss in front of 7500 fans Wednesday night. I think it is easy to forget that MLS is more like a Silverbacks gameday experience in many parks than the Bobby Dodd/Mercedes Benz experience. I think to the earlier points, you can chalk the last four games up to the roof design and construction delays, which led to the compressed fixtures. Will be interested to see if we lose anyone to transfer window.

Lots to say about the game, hopefully later, but Columbus definitely did not quiet the crowd until the last PK was scored. Then the building went silent. Otherwise, the place was completely rocking. Crazy loud.
