Long time reader, first time poster. This momma needs some info. We are currently trying to decide if we should move to CF or UFA to eventually tryout and join DA. In speaking with some parents at a tourney this weekend, it was suggested that I look only at UFA since CF may be losing DA. I already read on this forum that CF will have to make a choice between DA and ECNL. My kids are one and two years away from DA eligibility, but before I make the move can anyone verify this info please? Thanks ya'll.

I doubt that CF will choose ECNL over DA. My reasoning behind it is that if they give up DA they could potentially lose their national players because US Soccer may "suggest" they move. Two years away from DA? My suggestions is go where they will get the best coaching, moving now or later wont guarantee them a spot in DA in either club. DA at the younger ages does more harm than good in my opinion, kids that young need to play more, not less

I've heard these rumors for years, and they seem to surface every year. Heard about issues with not meeting DA standards, coaching behavior on the sidelines, lack of coaching licenses, poor grades when being rated as a club etc, using DA players in state cup, poor scores on "facilities". When they funded DA, it was a huge financial burden for sure, that's not the case anymore obviously. (rumors of single benefictor footing the bill in the past with some sponsorship help) I personally have not heard anything this year, other than what was posted above. They are the longest standing DA club in the city, and you can't argue with what they have accomplished so far this year. I'd be stunned if they lost DA. Stunned.
But it is youth soccer, seems every month something shocking happens......

If they were going to lose it they would have already based on everything you just said and they wouldn't have been given GDA either. I think CF is safe for now with DA, and like I said if they have to make a choice between the two because ECNL is making them then since they didn't meet the requirements like NTH then i think they will pick DA

Soccerhouse and SoccerMom you are both correct. They resolved many of the "compliance" issues by meeting with and trying to resolve them with the USSF. Such as moving the games down to the Georgia Park south of town and most importantly listing certain coaches without the appropriate licenses as "Apprentice Coaches" I believe that will be enough to satisfy the Federation.

What makes folks think that next year will be the year when clubs must choose between ECNL and DA?

When I reached out to a journalist for soccerwire, his response was, "I've heard rumors of this for a long, long time. Some would say that's been a de facto stance of ECNL leadership for months already".
But he had no definitive answer, but he wasn't in the room for the conversations. Keep in mind also, ECNL did a pretty good job keeping their ecnl boys plan under secrecy.
Tohpat and Concorde can pull it off on the girls side. Surprised looking at the girls side of Orlando City, how bad their ECNL teams are doing. Doesn't seem possible being the only show in town - u15 - 9th 1-7-2 u16 - 8th 1-8-1 u17 - 10th 0-8-2 u18 - 6th 2-3-5
I could see from ECNLs perspective, if that trend continues, why would you want that club in your league, other than to be a whipping boy by other teams and of course the O'City name etc.

OCYS lost their DA program and is now at Monteverde Academy I believe. Maybe not technically lost, but it is being run out of MA.

Missed that story! -- www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orlando-city-lions/os-sp-orlando-city-academy-20180109-story.htmlSeems odd, but I guess its to make it so they can house kids easier - "There are limitations on international student participation in the academy under FIFA rules, but the academy staff expects to soon recruit talent beyond the Orlando area. Athletes from Tampa, Miami and Jacksonville had difficulty joining Orlando City’s academy in the past and out-of-state athletes also faced travel issues, but Montverde’s housing makes recruiting players from those areas an option." Guess the kids are also going to school for free? I only skimmed the article.

In our research for where to move our kids to next year, I asked this question back in February because a friend we met who is from CF mentioned CF losing DA next year. We have been monitoring and reading the forum but I am sorry if I am just slow but is it official that cf is losing da and if so who girls or boys and where can I find out for sure? They never answer my emails or calls. thanks ya'll

They will no longer have Girls DA, but TBH, I would be more concerned as to why they weren't responding to my emails/calls. That's poor service on many levels.

You make a very good point upper90. Thanks for the info, back to the drawing board. Did anyone else lose DA boys or girls? What about ECNL, is it the better way to go for girls soccer or is it DA. Thanks again

So did CF give up their girls DA, or was it taken from them?
And what’s the situation on the boys side? I’ve seen speculation, but nobody really seems to know what they’re talking about. Is Concorde’s boys DA program going away, too?
