Atlanta United opens training session to fans - Here is an opportunity to tour the training grounds, watch a training session and possibly meet our newest acquisition Barco. In other news, there is some talk of Captain America - Carlos Bocanegra, being considered for the newly created USMNT GM position. That would be a loss for Atlanta United. If he takes the position, I wonder if he would look to poaching and taking Tata along with him? Truly torn, Boca has done a great job with Atlanta United but when your country comes calling in its time of need. - Carlos Bocanegra being considered for U.S. general manager position

I'll be at the open training tonight, attendance is expected to be 2,000+. Logistically may be a nightmare as you have to take a shuttle from White Water over to the training ground.

Yea, that area is going to be a cluster! Leaving should be interesting with shuttles etc.
Would think that would be hard opportunity to pass up for Bocanegra, besides coaching the team itself, sounds like the 2nd most important job in U.S. soccer with regards to the national team.
Not stating this as my opinion --- but the twitter world obviously is already saying --Cordeiro is rewarding Bocanegra for "the Athletes Council" Cooperation during the election.

The twitter-sphere is where I first picked up the crumbs about Boca being considered and the quid quo pro in regards to him being offered the gig as a result of the voting. We had the option of going to the Open Training today but chose to give our tickets to friends for two reasons. First I would have thought the Academy Families or players would have been given first dibs on attending but that was a no go once we asked. Plus, I know what traffic and parking is like with just regular games, I can only imagine what it will be like with 2ooo+ folks. I wish AU would invest in a parking deck, even if they charged a nominal fee to cover the costs and maintenance. Soccerfan30, we are counting on you to give us your insider's opinion on the experience.

Funny you should say that Futsal Gawdess, we were just talking about how it might have been nice if the DA teams had been offered a chance to attend tonight's session, rather than just being told that practice was being cancelled. It would have been a rare opportunity for the boys to see the first team train...& btw, agree 100% with regards to keeping a white jersey clean on a weekly basis is something I would rather not have to do-been there done that! LOL!

Not sure how long I'll stay tonight, my daughter is going with me, may have to leave a little early because of the shuttle logistics.

How is it? Everything smooth?

Every thing went smooth- they had about 30 shuttle buses at White Water to transport people back and forth. Was a five minute ride to the training facility. Multiple food trucks, dj, merch truck, etc. Boca came out and addressed the crowd as did Arthur Blank. The players came out in the new King Peach kit- still not a fan of orange but they looked sharp. The AUFC 2 team was there too. There was about 2,000 people in the stands tonight. The experience was first class, just like everything else they do.

In other non directly affiliated with AU news, looks like someone else has beaten Top Golf to the Franklin Gateway corridor where AU has it's training grounds. Drive Shack(fake Top Golf) is a gold and sports entertainment center. It will be opening up a facility adjacent to the AU Training Grounds. The ground level will be open on one side so golfers can drive balls out from the building. The rest of the facilities will include a variety of entertainment options, both golf related and otherwise. There will be tabletop games like pool as well as arcade games. Guests will be able to dine at full-service food and beverage areas including a rooftop dining area with views of the facility. Drive Shack will also have meeting spaces for corporate and business clients. First it was the Atlanta United Training Grounds, then the second Georgia location for IKEA and now Drive Shack. May be time to buy some property on that strip.

Not considering or withstanding the King Peach Kits, this is the best news of the day.
