Good for Morocco. The Us doesn’t deserve a World Cup after that election debacle. Plus if the US got to host then there’s no need to develop a team since they get the automatic bid.

I know nothing about the bid, but it seems likely that Mercedes-Benz Stadium would be a venue. While I sympathize with JumpJumpKeep311's points, I sure would like a chance to go to some world cup games right in our own backyard.

I’ve been to most sporting events except a super bowl.
The World Cup by far was the greatest sporting event I witnessed in person in 1994.

Super Bowls and World Series are great but half the crowd is rooting for a different team so the energy is different. '94 World Cup was like an Atlanta United playoff game on steroids. I hope we get another one in the US so my kids can experience it!

I wonder if this has anything to do with the US taking the lead in the FIFA corruption case or our illustrious President referring to African nations as s'hole countries. Certainly not a way to endear yourself to the rest of the world.

When I visited Italy for the 1990 WC, the USA-Italy match in Rome was ELECTRIC. WC finals is an event without equal.. and hosting again will be huge for the game in America.
But I also think losing the bid might force some necessary changes. I'll be watching regardless of the venue.

The main reason why FIFA wouldn't want to have a World Cup in the US is we already have an excess of potential venues to use. That seems counter-intuitive, but FIFA usually wants to have new stadiums built for the World Cup, so they can sign contracts with construction companies that include large under the table kickbacks for themselves. Each of the last few World Cups, including the next two, have had new stadiums built in the years leading up to it. Even for Germany in 2006 (Allianz Arena in Munich was brand new, multiple stadiums underwent massive renovations).
FIFA's savvy though, so they know they can hide behind the Trump excuse and media around the world will run with it without really looking into the issue much. Something tells me that if FIFA's okay with having their WC 2022 stadia built by slave labor, they're not going to be too bothered by our President's antics.

Does anyone wonder why Great Britain isn’t hosting a World Cup but Qatar, South Africa, Russia and so on are? I challenge anyone to tell me that another country/region has better stadiums, facilities, and hotel type stuff then Great Britain AND don’t require 3-4 hour flights in between each venue. I mean get spreading the wealth so to speak to other countries but come on how easy would it be in GB.
Yeah logically it makes sense but financially no one gets brided or given shady construction contracts so it’s not a FIFA sponsored event. Just a thought though.

And 2030 looks like a collective bid from Uruguay/Argentina/Paraguay.
Yea, we all know its a sham, given Brazil has vacant stadiums sitting there in jungles, Russia and Qatar have no right hosting a world cup. Qatar will be a joke competing in our Winter. Nothing better than a summer vacation watching world cup games. We and our kids will be robbed of that experience!
