I'll admit, I only tuned in for the 2nd half.
But yikes that was ugly. I get the wind factor, but man, it was all high energy, and very little attempts to move the ball on the surface. And from what I saw, the last 15 minutes, Germany really put pressure on the US, but didn't look very impressive either. Maybe it was the weather, since neither side looked impressive.... But again whats US soccer doing scheduling a game like this in the winter in Ohio anyway....Isn' the average high only around 40 degrees during feb anyway.
Either way, the weather sucked, the game was worse. Even Pugh looked like shes gone backwards. Perfect example, they subbed the south carolina player alum in at the 72nd minute, Savannah McCaskill. She played a central role and came in for Ertz. She touched the ball twice I think in 20 minutes, and both times she was fouled. Thats it.

I think we should probably give them a break. Did you see those flags? At one point Horan shot from the top of 18 into the wind and the ball barely made it into the 6. Granted it was a weak-assed off-footer but still. Naeher had a couple of clearances that nearly went out for corners! Those were some nasty conditions. On the one hand, I can understand USSF wanting to spread these matches around, but there is a considerable amount of territory south of Columbus that had a chance of more favorable environmental conditions at the beginning of March. On the other hand, that natural surface pitch looked pretty sweet especially considering the time of year.

Not sure why they think Columbus or even Ohio is worth putting these types of games in. I mean come on go find a true sports town. Also side note, I honestly had ZERO knowledge that the women were playing this game. Hadn’t heard anything about on Twitter or television so I see US Soccer did an amazing job promoting the women’s program again. Oh Go Blue!

They were trying to throw Columbus a bone I guess since the city is losing their MLS team. Its good for the US v Mexico games but there are better options especially during the winter months.
