If a coach asks a recruit what other colleges they are considering, should the player be transparent or vague? Be transparent if you have that luxury for multiple schools. It will only benefit you and let the recruiter know what they are up against. You might get more promises? Look at High School (other) football players that have multiple offers. They will announce the schools they are considering and won’t usually won’t tell until signing day. 😃

College Coaches can probably find out and the soccer community is smaller than you think. When I'm recruiting for colleges I look over a recruits social media accounts as well to perform our due diligence on character assessments.

A story.. guy I met (at work) graduated from GSU a couple years ago. He played soccer and started for four years on a full ride. (So obviously a good player, men's soccer scholarships are so few). He faced this issue and chose to keep his other offer(s) close to the vest until decision time.
He told me he had been recruited hard by Clemson but they were only offering a partial scholarship. When he told GSU about Clemson's offer, GSU sealed the deal. It was not fun to turn down an ACC school but his family wasn't one who could absorb "whatever the cost" so a full ride was a huge offer that he had to take.
When he called Clemson to tell them he is out, the coach was PISSED. Not because Clemson wasn't given a chance to improve their offer, because he said that wouldn't happen. He was pissed because he lost a good recruit.
This isn't a situation I will have to worry about so my advice is worth the price charged for it.. but I would be transparent.
