There seems to be a lot of chatter on the other forum.

Three of their directors were recruited by SSA for their South program. I don't know how that affects their spring season.

It's actually a little more complicated than just that. Here's the timeline:
In December/January the Executive Director was let go and a new ED hired. At the same time, the boy's director was let go. This move was actually in the works before the original ED was let go.
The then Academy Director was promoted to Boy's Director, and the Academy Director position eliminated. Boy's and Girl's Directors would be responsible for the program all the way down, including the Academy teams.
Last week, the new Boy's Director (and former Academy Director) very unexpectedly, quit. Apparently there was something he did not like in his new contract.
Later in the week, all three former directors were announced as new coaches at SSA.
In the mean time, new coaches have been assigned to the teams who need them and they are in the process of hiring a new Boy's Director.
That's about where we are at the moment. Of course, on the other forum it is not enough to give facts. Instead there has to be a lot of accusations, name calling and all kinds of other nonsense.
Good luck to the new coaches coming in. May you find success. And all the best to the coaches who have left (voluntarily or involuntarily) as well.

Thanks for the inside scoop, dreaddy. I hope the kids at AFC don't suffer during the switchover, and that things will settle down quickly.

Hate to see all the negative press about AFC. My son's team always had great battles with AFC and I was fortunate to meet and get to know many of their parents. Great bunch of folks who appreciate good soccer. Both teams got their share of wins over the years, which made for an excellent rivalry. I hope all works out for this club.

Hopefully it works out well for AFC that this happened now instead of right before tryouts. People are more likely to get spooked with changes at tryout time. If this season goes well, there may be little impact a few months from now.

They just got another blow - one of the coaches brought in to replace one the ones who left has taken a new college coaching job in New Jersey. He's leaving in two weeks. When it rains, it pours!
