i thought afu u12 "Elite" Girls was supposed to be some special team.
They got beat today 2-0. i know its just 8v8, but they were supposed to be in the next gen series, and their "coach" thinks they are all world.
the norcross team ain't bad, but not a top 5 team for sure.

They may have talent, but any 10-12 year old has a lot of growing to do. Any of these teams can win or lose on any given day. If they have the potential to be as good as people think they are, there are good lessons in losing too.

great point for sure.
poster left out the best part thought, the coach at AFU used to coach that u12 team at norcross. probably made it sting a little bit worse.

That AFU coach has been a good trainer at camps my kids have attended. One thing I could see being a problem, though, how should I put this, is a sense of overconfidence. It is great to be confident, indeed it is very important in soccer like in all sports, but this can be taken too far. And if it is, that can compromise performance for a number of reasons. I should say I do not know this is the reason their results have been not quite up to their expectations, just that I could see this as a possible dynamic.

Neither of my kids had him as a coach while he was here but he was the trainer at a pre-select camp that my youngest attended and he's the one that invited her to join a select team last year just before he left to go to AFU. She really liked him as a trainer so we were sad to see him leave and go to AFU. No worries though, some coaches move from club to club. If I'm not mistaken, he also left his high school team and moved to another one right around the same time.

Our 2nd team played the NSA 12G Premier team and they just beat us in a hard fought game 2-0. Our 1st team would have beaten them handily, just as they beat the AFU top team.
