Its actually easier for me to tell you who is the worst DA coach but I will keep my 2 cents to myself (for now) but I will definitely sit back and ponder the answers. If the rumor is true and coach Allan (sp?) From UFA takes over the younger DA team, he will in no time be my winner.

One coach that yells "pick it up", "come on man", "run!!" That's the extent of his tactical adjustments. He could sell eyeglasses to Stevie Wonder but couldnt develop a cold.

Is "gameday coach" really a thing?
We've all been trained now to follow the John Wooden model -- do all your coaching in practice, then sit back and let them play the games.

I prefer the coach you just described. Coach at practice and sit and let them learn in games. From time to time point out things they need to know during is fine. On the other hand, there are a lot of Academy and Select coaches that yell at his/her own players for mistakes made during the game. Is he or she stating they should know better? From those lkind of coaches It seems like every game the players should know better but if they didn’t teach them in practice for that situation then don’t punish them with hurtful yelling and pointing them out just to take the heat off of you. Coaches need to own up sometimes for getting out coached! How many set plays do you practice? How many corner kicks? How many times per week do you go over game strategy? My guess, not much at all so don’t blame the players during a game, it’s embarrassing for them as well as for the coach and club. There just children. At age 14, 15 and up yes I get it and from time too time they need a reminder but younger than that take a chill pill!

Is "gameday coach" really a thing? We've all been trained now to follow the John Wooden model -- do all your coaching in practice, then sit back and let them play the games. Unfortunately, it is a thing. There are coaches out there that are great at running a practice. Give them a facet of the game and they will train you up and you will leave the practice pitch all the more wiser. Then there are gameday coaches who implement the tactics learned in practice but also have the ability to make the right 'adjustments' as the game goes on. Many coaches have a game-plan and rigidly stick to it because sometimes they don't know how to make adjustments. Seen it with my kids, great coach, nice, knowledgable and developed the kids, but when he was out, his replacement would make adjustments on the fly and the same teams that would beat us, we'd smash.
