Does anyone know when/where/if there is tryouts for Atlanta United 2007’s? Does anyone know who the coaches are for 2005 boys?
Thanks!

I thought they already did some invite only trainings on some Fridays for the 07's and 08's? and then some kids were picked from that group and those kids have continued going on Fridays. I also know of an 07 in our club who has been offered a spot for next season already. Futsal Gawdess is your best source of info for that

SoccerMom is correct. Starting with the current 2004s last year, AU chose to shy away from formal tryouts. The current U13s and U12s were the last in the formal Tryout cycle. They have instead chosen to start the "tryout" process years in advance with the Junior Development program. This way when they Officially arrive at AU, they are already enshrined in the type of training program etc. Also for the current U12s, U13s, U14s and U15s AU has been bringing in potential signers for next season in to "practice" with the current teams. There have been boys from NY, CA, TN, FL, TX and Europe across the 4 teams. There have also been boys from local clubs who have come in to "practice" I know of 4 boys so far that have officially been signed for the next season, outside of the boys currently on the team.
Honestly, if your friend has a kid who is legitimately able to be on one of the AU teams, have their DOC reach out to schedule something. Or hope they are at UFA since they have a built-in trusted arrangement. Current coach for U13s KRIS BERTSCH
Goodluck

Twdsoccer, normally you would be right in that they would have to wait for the open tryouts. However, when AU come on the scene a couple of years ago, they met with all the local club DOCs(at least the larger ones) and they have an informal agreement that allows them to bring in boys throughout the year to "train/practice" with the current teams and also have AU hold their tryouts or make their decision before anyone else. I believe at the time, CF was the only club that was not keen on that idea and refused to play ball(pun intended). At the time CF was the king of the hill so to say. That is why many of the CF boys have been brought in prior to tryouts, I personally think to thumb it at CF. Conversely CF tries to lock down their star players around this time of year. Tryouts for all the other clubs are all done on the same day and the thinking is it's not fair to have the boys do two DA tryouts in one day. With all that said, Soccerdaddy, I was wrong. I knew the rising U12s(2007s) would be having their tryouts this month and I thought it was in two weeks but being on vacation for spring break threw me off. It's actually going to be next Friday the 20th. It is still by invite only but a bunch of 2007s have been invited to come to the training grounds. As of today, none of the current 2007s playing with the U12s(2006s) will be there, which leads me to believe there will be more than one session. If your friends kids were not invited, they still have time to have someone reach out to the AU staff before next Friday. Side note - Great event I was lucky to be invited to today at the Training Grounds involving the Special Olympics and the Unified Signing Day. Complete with the two first team mentors(Garza and Guzan), 7 Special kids went thru a similar signing day process, with the red carpet, AU supporters on hand with drums and flags et.al Real class act by everyone involved. This year AU is partnered with the Chicago Fire team. Here is the blurb from last year when AU was partnered with Orlando City www.atlutd.com/post/2017/07/25/atlanta-united-special-olympics-unified-team-secures-first-win-over-orlando-city

Thanks again! I’ll let them know. Unfortunately, I think the kid only plays indoor and has no club as the Parents can’t afford club ball. I think they are afraid to ask for a scholarship. I think any club would provide a scholarship if they got to see him play as there are other kids that play indoor and club ball but he is way ahead in development at such a young age.

Atlanta United has tryouts all year round. The scouting system is growing and getting better. If you are a good fit they will be watching. Just have fun and develop.
