Awesome, what teams/leagues did you have? Sorry, I played Football/Baseball/Basketball and soccer was unheard of in Atlanta. I’m sure it was 1 league with so many teams. 1 way to get to the top or College. Can we get your feedback on what it was like in the 80’s? Tophat started in 1982, I believe DDY was one of the first soccer organizations in GA back in the late 60's/ early 70's. Cherokee Impact started in 1971 as Redwings. I think NASA was also around that time as Quest. It'd be interesting to see a timeline of all the clubs - when they started and what names they started with.

Heard last night from a Big 5 higher up that it’s a done deal with them for fall. Still looking at CESA and BUSA but theyd travel to Atlanta. The idea is to run it like ECNL or academy schedule, where they schedule say Boys 13Us thru 19Us so say Concorde hosting NTH, while UFA hosts SSA. Not sure how an odd number of clubs will work but they’ll have the flexibility to schedule things like an Academy schedule with no oversight from Ga Soccer. Then the top two teams in each age group would qualify for USClubs regional division. Was also told the “Big 6” originally told Ga Soccer they wanted to stay in State Cup but wanted a Champions League Division just for them. That’s what supposedly started the uproar with IAFC, Smyrna, GaStorm/Ksa/Allin, and the other “Middle 6” clubs.
All I know is there’s going to be A LOT of movement up this fall. Teams that finish(ed) in the Top four of their brackets could expect a promotion to even brackets out.

This is where i'm always confused, US Club soccer seems to want to challenge the federation and US Soccer, but then seem to agree with their mandates etc. I was surprised during the age mandates that US club didn't just stand up and say, we aren't changing. Then at that same time create leagues like this one, where a folks/clubs would maybe flock to, to keep teams together etc. Would have been a huge power play. I still think this is a big one as well -- as mentioned, I see this expanding to not even 2nd/3rd teams, maybe 4th and 5th and then adding new clubs. Ga Soccer should be worried. Less players == less money == less resources

We played each other, a Monroe team that hadn't advanced very far, and a couple of Atlanta teams. (I want to say "Mustangs" was one.) My U14 team won its division and moved up, but I didn't play the next season, so I don't know where it went from there. My jersey had an "ASA" patch.

Officially, when will the issue with the Big 6 be announced. I'm assuming it's a done deal from my sources but I believe all parents should know the details prior to tryouts for the upcoming season? An official press release will drop this month. Big 5 plus BUSA and CESA.

Again - so at the mega clubs - is this a combined team across all locations? Mega 2nd and 3rd teams potentially removing kids from their local club etc.

I am not sure that they will do a combined team. At least for Concorde, SSA, and UFA I am not sure that is realistic. Would you drive from Johns Creek to Sandy Springs area for your kid to play on a third team playing in the "special league"? Or from Norcross to Fowler park? Or for SSA's multiple places Newnan, Northside, etc to the main SSA (maybe a good thing for 2 or 3 people)? I think people will just do it if it is close enough to their homes and a big enough difference in competition to make it worth it. I doubt the clubs will say "hey we will make it easy and do 1 day of practice at location X and 2 days at location Y". That would be taking the kids' best interest into consideration too much!

I don’t see how you could do it other than having a combined team/ tryout?
Seems to me if you do this for 2nd or 3rd teams should have a been across the board.

Or would it be for the top players at each SSA/UFA location? You'd actually have, what, about 12 teams per age group in that case?

Isn’t it for all the marbles minus DA and ECNL teams? Talking 2nd/3rd/4th or will some do GA Soccer Classic and Athena?

My understanding is only the top team outside of DA and/or ECNL. The remainder will do Athena and Classic.

It makes sense to do that. Concorde North and Central anyway...not south or west. They may have to decide depending on age group. Some age groups Norcross premier would be good and some not. Boys and girls may be different too.

Original talks said, one team per club. But i guess anything is possible. I guess its whichever team is currently playing RPL except for SSA

Concorde and UFA have a handful of age groups with 2 teams in a rpl division. Should be interesting.

Anyone have an opinion on the current U13 LSA team that finished the spring in the top half of RPL and will be in Premier Division in the fall for U14. Since LSA is joining with Tophat, would you think that LSA location will still have RPL? Or will that LSA team, now being part of tophat, become a champions league team?
Either way, sounds like RPL is going to have a mess on their hands in the fall considering a ton of current teams from U14-18 that would usually be filled with Big 5 teams will need to be replaced.

Looking for answers. Is the LSA-NTH merger just on the boys side or girls side or both? The rumor I heard was that Top Hat will be moving all RPL to LSA. Of course this on girls side. I know very little from boys side.

I know very little from boys side. It’s just a Tophat / Lanier alliance, so all Lanier girls teams will be NTH teams in NTH unis but with the Lanier patch on the sleeve. I’ve heard also that NTH will be pulling those R3PL Lanier girls teams into Champ. League. Lanier boys will stay the same with no changes.

This is great stuff --- last night I"m sitting around thinking, we have so much passion in this state for youth soccer that --
I didn't create a sub board for boys ecnl i didn't create a sub board for girls da
I created a sub board for a 2nd/3rd team league. Honestly, though, I just realized/remembered I could do it......
Very interesting -- I guess all the questions we have might not be sorted out yet -- with regards to logistics and clubs with multiple locations. I think the one major positive is --- they can probably do what ever they want and if they want to add more teams from each club they can.

Probably should -- just don't want to get to spread out in multiple sub boards, its a lot easy to go to one place and see updated threads etc vs multiple sub boards.

So if LSA and Tophat merge, does that mean LSA girls need to commute to Atlanta for practice?

My guess is it expands your player pool and gives some of the top players flexibility, either try out/ be invited to play on a top Tophat team in the atlanta area and be a full time player on any of the appropriate level teams
or
be rostered with ECNL and play when possible
or
be a dp on a DA squad (maximum number of games one can play I think is 6, then if want to play more would need to be added as full time player)
or
just go about your business as usual, and play and train full time out of gainesville
