So if everyone on this website's rumors come true then we are talking about a new league with a nice name for literally the 3rd best team at the major clubs. The only motivation seems to be that parents won't have to drive as far for games? This seems like a 'rec soccer' mentality to me. I want the best competition possible for my player.
What is the motivation for a team to succeed in Champions league? In Rpl, teams can be promoted for success or relegated for poor performance. In the Champions format, it seems to me that there won't be a focus on team success because what is the reward for team success. I guess the hope of the parent is that their individual daughter/son does well on a champions team and gets identified for an ECNL or DA team at their club.
This might push more motivated parents to not participate in Champions league and find a smaller club that has a RPL team, which would be that club's best team, and find better competition.
Will be interesting depending on how parents interpret this, but honestly most parents I know aren't going to be impressed if the only selling point is less travel for games.

Rumor is the best teams in the league will play in a playoff type situation similar to ECNL and DA against other similar leagues. I think someone posted that Virginia has one. My understanding is other states/regions do also. As for team motivation...isnt that true for ECNL and DA also. No prom/rel there either. As an aside I don't know if I like the idea myself but I will wait for details before I judge too much.

Look at every club’s website and you’ll see all the accolades and what the Club is all about in order to sell you whatever it is they’re into. Champions league will be easy to sell for these big five clubs.
