So rather than having the money go to a non-profit, like Georgia Soccer, you suggest the money should go to US Club. Ok. Big 5 DOCs have spoken. They didn’t want National League/RPL. They are excited to start their US Club SCCL. Good luck to them. My money is still going to the same place, Im sure my bill will be the same. But I dont want to spend more money in unnecessary travel if I don't have to. This is a problem created by the other DOCs whose feelings got hurt. The other states are making it work, but GA can't? GA soccer is letting themselves be influenced by some DOCs in the area (they know who they are), and that is a red flag to me. If GA Soccer gave a crap they would have stepped in a long time ago and tried to help solve this RPL mess, the only reason they care now its because its going to affect their bottom line.

Quite simple 5 didn’t want National League/RPL. The other clubs used their majority vote and majority player count to put the withes of the 5 into law.
Congratulations to the DOCs of the 5, they got exactly what they wanted.
Now their parents can enjoy competing in the SCCL.

The only thing that's odd to me is that kids playing in ECNL/NPL can be rostered in large percentage to Athena/Classic teams to play for state cup. There should be a VERY small number of additions allowed. Kids worked hard to qualify their teams for the state tourney and suddenly they can be replaced for the tournament by kids that didn't earn it? That's insane.

Well based on Georgia Soccer' s new statement this will be the last year this can happen since no club will be allowed to play in State Cup if their club participates in ECNL or NPL (or SCCL). I agree though that it is unfair to those kids on the team that have played together and worked together all season.

NPL was 6 games before, a winter league that was played alongside RPL. Those kids were part of the team. But yes....where was GA Soccer when all those ECNL kids were being rostered? Nowhere....u know why? Because every one of those kids was more $$ to them.

There are many more rules and Bylaw changes coming. The 5 will be encouraged to compete in their chosen US Club leagues so that the competition with Georgia Soccer/US Youth Soccer can be true competition of players and teams that are only competing in US Youth programs.
The 5 asked for this and the rest of the clubs are working quickly to draft into place rules and blyaws that will make sure they get exactly what they asked for.

411, this is not a completely accurate statement:
"Hopefully the 5’s new League will offer a competitive level version of State Cup with their new SCCL League. Though most of these teams from the Big 5 are 3rd teams with their clubs."
Speaking from a UFA perspective (and boys team): The top Boys team at UFA is DA, but that is a club wide team; not specific to a location. In Classic 1 U13 you currently have UFA Fowler and UFA Norcross. Those two teams are the top boys team for u13 at each location. They are not the second or third Norcross or Fowler team.
Constantly stressing that SCCL will be 2nd, 3rd or 4th teams seems more like trying to convince people that the new league will be weak.

It is amazing that a league made of five clubs third teams could cause so much comotion. This was clearly just the straw that broke the camels baxk.

Maybe it was rumor based on these other new rules they are trying to get enacted. You have been around longer. Not necessarily a rumor - several coaches/DOC's from the non-alliance clubs met with GA Soccer last week to present additional rule changes one of which was prohibiting players from the new league from playing in State Cup effective next year. As mentioned earlier, it's really unfair to the player that was rostered all year on a team competing in State Cup to sit the bench or not go at all if ECNL/other players 'guest' with the team. That scenario happened a few years ago with the 2000's at Concorde - they pulled in ECNL Players for State Cup to try to get an RPL spot and it backfired badly. The 2000 Concorde team eventually earned the RPL spot on their own but they had to play up an age group then come back to their own age group for State Cup and earn it. Not picking on Concorde here - a lot of teams will guest ECNL players for state cup because - well - they just can. So it makes a lot of sense to finally put a rule in place prohibiting it. Whether GA Soccer will actually enforce it remains to be seen.

UFA canceled training for Monday due to an all coaches meeting. I guess the news will be made formal then. That meeting had been scheduled for weeks before all this. This is their annual meeting to discuss all changes, assignments, tryouts, etc. Don't all clubs do this? No, all clubs do not cancel training for a coaches meeting - at our club, they do that on their time not the time set aside - and paid for by parents with their fees - for training players.

I have my own opinion of SCCL but I have no problem wishing the best to all of the 5 and their decision to move forward with creating SCCL.
I fully support Georgia Soccer and the Alliance decisions to ratify a plethora of rules to cement in the 5’s decision making.
2018 is going to be an exciting year in the world of youth soccer.

I'm not from SSA so I don't know what else they have to offer their top players.

My answer was no, at least at our club, meetings between coaches/directors don't take place during during training sessions. Is that OBVIOUS enough or do I need to diagram the sentence for you?

I'm not from SSA so I don't know what else they have to offer their top players. SSA has NPL, so if they keep it, theoretically it would be a level above SCCL. I think the expansion of the NPL season is designed to try to counteract this concept. They will still be playing against some second teams from some clubs in NPL if the rumors on that are true, but less of an issue and likely no third teams than in SCCL. The thing is...that was happening already. When SSA played in U13 girls RPL this spring they played against Tophat's second team and Tampa Bay's second team. It is to a lesser degree than some years and some age groups. Some age groups had more second and third teams in RPL than others. Tophat had a third team nearly all age groups. GSA and AFU have had second teams in there a lot too. Other states are doing their own champions league things as well and who is to say what happens to the new RPL as a result. I have been wondering how SSA benefits from this situation. One thing I have heard is that clubs will be choosing which team goes into NPL and which does SCCL. So SSA has many locations. For example, they might decide that SSA 05 Elite does NPL but SSA 05 Select White goes to SCCL. While maybe UFA decides 05 girls Norcross goes to NPL and 05 Forsyth goes to SCCL. THESE ARE JUST EXAMPLES, NOT ANY INSIDE INFORMATION!!! It does allow clubs to help maintain people at their other locations especially those that regularly lose kids as the kids get older and have options to more elite leagues. I am not familiar with anyone boy's side, but I have heard the same thing there. Clubs choosing what team to put in SCCL. What is going to be hard IMO is for clubs like Concorde boys who have multiple teams in SRPL in the same age group at different locations. Like any change, even within the clubs that opted to do this there will be winners and losers in this situation. All new programs like this take some time to come to an equilibrium. The girls DA is another similar issue. Clubs leaving, clubs joining, teams getting crushed 17-0 in games, etc. It takes time for things to adjust. It is just hard on those of us whose kids are being affected by multiple changes in 2 years.

It’s not about locations with SSA. The top team is Elite, and that team is central. Not sure what they’ll do about all of this...

Another question I have for those smarter than I am... UFA has multiple locations, but each is run independently of each other, so if UFA Forsyth joins the SCCL, but UFA Milton doesn't.... does that mean UFA Milton can still play RPL?
To restate... many people smarter than me... I'm not the brightest of the bunch... how is this handled?

UFA is a little different beast. The individual locations do have someone on-site to run things, but all pseudo report back to the Forsyth location. UFA will handle this the same way they handle DA, it will be one team for all of UFA. After that, each location will then have their regular teams(Premier, Red, Black, etc..).
Caveat: That is as of Sunday nite. As we've all seen/heard, this is a moving work in progress, so in 2.3 minutes all i've just said could be for naught.

It’s not about locations with SSA. The top team is Elite, and that team is central. Not sure what they’ll do about all of this... Their top team at 05 is fantastic. Other age groups, not always. They will always be at risk of losing those top girls to other DA or ECNL squads if they don't have the same. If the newly redesigned NPL offsets that some, then it helps them. They have always been a strange club to me. Too many locations with one or two teams. They may have a "central" location for their top team, but if you live in Newnan going through Atlanta is a PITA. Even the Acworth, Kennesaw, Marietta area is so MUCH traffic. If you are going to fight through that crap then why not just go to Tophat who has a track record of placing their best girls on YNT and in great D1 schools. A friend plays on Tophat ECNL and they practice in Marietta. I don't think playing in SRPL/NL would be enough to keep me at SSA in U15 and up. Who knows what SSA is thinking? But if they are only thinking about their "central" location and their "top" teams then this decision to drop NL and have SCCL makes no sense. Frankly if I was their DOC I would have been freaking out ever since girls DA started and UFA got that. I would have been VERY worried about how I have a HUGE club and I am the only one who does not offer ECNL or DA. Just my opinion. They have some great girls players and great teams, but in this current craziness to keep those players is going to be hard.

It seems that UFA doesn't yet know or at least the coaches don't. I have heard everything from DA top, NPL second, SCCL third to Norcross gets NPL and Forsyth Premier will be SCCL, to it will be different for each age group. Regarding the other locations (Milton, Mountains, etc) there are almost no girls teams. You would know more than I do, but I am not aware of any girls teams out of Milton except 00. For the boys I have seen the academy ages with one or two from each age group for Milton and Mountains, but I don't know about select boys. My guess is that neither location is far enough away for it to stop any kids with a high level of interest in playing in SCCL or NPL from traveling down and that ALL locations would be excluded from RPL based on the rules interpretations I have seen.

You are correct about the 00 Girls team. The won the state cup last year, but other than that I'm not as familiar with any other girls teams out of Milton. More info will go public in the next 6 - 48 hours as the staff of UFA are told the finalized coaching/team choices tonite. That is also where a lot of what the plan(permanent/temporary) will be relayed to the coaches and give them a chance to ask questions that they in turn will deceminate to their TMs, Parents and Players.

1. CF is making theier decision on ECNL or DA today. They cannot keep both.
2. Iggy is not running SCCL- he is leaving coaching to spend time with his family
3. The coaches leaving and taking their teams with them.......................there will be one club allowed to keep ECNL as well as stay in Ga Soccer...................AFU. I'll let y'all connect the dots on where players and coaches aginst the SCCL will go.......................
