With all the World Cup Champions League Elite/Premier/Silver/North/South Mullings, I forgot to give an update as to the Spring Meetings at AU. As many of you know AU had team parent/player meetings with a few of their teams last week. As was expected, the ugly side of playing soccer at a professional club rears its head – Cut Release Day. For the younger teams the D-Days will be May 28th and May 29th This is to give released players time to find a new home in time for tryouts at other DA clubs. Furthermore, TA will be stepping down as a Coach. He currently has the U17s but once the season is over, he’ll be removing the coaching headgear and sticking with just running and improving the Youth Academy. The current coaches will likely stay in their current positions and with their current age-groups. This is 80% firm but as you know there could still be some movement. 2018/2019 Season Coaches U12 – Ryan Maurer & Mike Lynch U13 – Kris Bertsch U14 – Steven Covino U15 – Matt Lawrey U17 – TBD U19 – Rodrigo Rios Goal Keepers – Liam Curran Negotiations still on-going with the new coach, so not at liberty to reveal who it is yet. Does have MLS experience(wink, wink).

One of the greatest Monday to Friday trainers I’ve ever witnessed in person. It’s too bad he won’t be coaching but hopefully he fills in and runs sessions on occasion.

Locally, I don't think i've seen a better daily training session than TAs. I do know one thing, when he's around it has almost the same effect on both the coaches and the lads on the pitch.

Wasn't sure where to put this and didn't want to create a whole new thread for this so I chose to dump it here. With that said, I'd like to acknowledge the AU U13 Goalkeeper(there's only one). He had in my opinion the best weekend ever for a goalkeeper. Here is what he did this weekend:
- Saturday: Clean Sheet in an 11-0 win - Sunday: Clean Sheet in an 8-0 win - Saturday: He scored a goal via a penalty - Sunday: He saved a penalty
The penalty he took and scored on was fun to watch because when the penalty was awarded, he was summoned to come take the shot. He was reluctant at first but as the parents, coaches and all his teammates pushed he ran the entire length of the field. Stood fast and at the sound of the referee's whistle, shot a laser right past his counterpart - GOOOOOAL!!!

moose0508, cut day(s) are going to be on the 28th and 29th. Per TA goal is to release you prior to tryouts so you have enough time to land somewhere. They have been constantly bringing in players to train with the current teams from as far as Germany internationally and domestically as far as California. I do want to point something kind of morbid about this model. Imagine the mindset one has to have playing at AU, they are constantly bringing in lads to "train" Imagine if the potential replacement not only plays your position but also looks good? Talk about mind games.

High pressure for sure. Some thrive in the AU system and some don't.
So far as a AU parent I been very happy with the system. Still has work to do but for sure progression.
Good luck to everyone! Silly season in full swing.

I think AU will bring it on and will want to make the biggest statement to keep me in coach, I'm ready to play!
