SSA 05 Girls elite are one of the best girls teams I have ever seen but with the new agreement I can’t imagine their team or any othercurewnt or future top SSA teams being satisfied with NPL?
How can a club as large as SSA not have ECNL or DA?

I’m torn here.
One, what is SSA backwards? Because that’s typically how they work. (Cobb FC/SW Cobb YS alum, so I’m still bitter)
Two, ECNL and DA don’t mean top quality they just mean top dollar expensives so maybe SSA is focused on the development of their players under US Youth Soccer and sending kids to college or maybe straight to Chelsea.
Not sure who the 05s coach is but if they are quality then SSA will keep them playing at the highest level.

Looking at the 05 girls NPL standings and SSA had 1 close game and that was vs UFA Pre DA so that team will be gone next fall. Other than that they weren't challenged 1x, and didn't give up a goal. How in the world do they promote this as a competitive league? What would be the next level for them? They had to have just lost the top 5 kids or more with this decision.

I find it funny how people say ECNL and DA are not top level soccer, just top dollar...If these leagues, in the world of girls soccer, are not the best around, what is? SSA is good at 05, yes, they would compete with most ECNL teams at 05---but how can they sustain? If they aren't being challenged every week, they will slide backwards over time.

That team needs to be playing DA for Tophat or another GDA club.

That SSA Team is very good because they play well as a Team and they all know their role but that doesn't always correlate to every player is DA level. I personally believe no club try's to find the best team based on the chemistry of players from what I have seen. That 05 SSA Team is good because of their chemistry and its a shame they can't stay together in the ECNL. It just seems like most clubs attempt to find the tallest players with some skill and over look smaller kids who have a heart for soccer and are just as good when playing games but not so much at tryouts. Some kids might have all of the talent in the world but that doesn't make them a good team player nor does it mean they will always make a team better.

SSA had a really solid 00-01 girls team before the age mandate as well. What happened to that group? They were strong.

The 00's, 01's, and 02's were hit hard by the mandate as well as a few players leaving due to some coach/player/parent chemistry issues. As far as the 05's, I'm hoping they stay together. Their coach has been with them as a technical trainer for years and for the last couple of seasons as head coach. He's done a great job with them. He isn't the easiest to play for but he is a very good game day coach, trainer. He's demanding, has a personality that rubs a few parents the wrong way, but he gets the most out of a lot of girls. As far as the 05's leaving, why would they want to? I'd counter with the fact that they already go to Jefferson Cup, Disney, and this year looking to go to other showcases. They will kick the hell out of most ECNL teams and could beat quite a few DA clubs. Why leave if they are improving, enjoying themselves, and winning? Trust me, they are getting exposure. You don't have to be DA/ECNL to get scouted. My daughter has a number of colleges offering, even non-power 5 D1, and she plays below ECNL....

I find it interesting that alot of parents don't care to learn the history of what happens at their club in the older age groups. Let me start out by saying, it is unfortunate that SSA doesn't have GDA or ECNL. I know they have applied multiple times, but it hasn't been granted up to this point. With that being said, SSA (prev CobbFC, KennFC, etc) has always, I repeat always, since the launch of ECNL lost players to clubs with the highest level of girls soccer. I know this because I have studied it. You can go back to 2008-2009 when ECNL first launched and look at the Concorde teams and there are girls from CobbFC/SSA on there. It was like an unofficial pipeline... That is how the soccer pyramid works. I am not saying I agree with the pyramid, but it is what it is. I hate to even use the word lost because it is every parents' prerogative if they want to allow their player to play in a higher league. Yes the SSA academy is strong and it SHOULD be. They have excellent rec player numbers to pull from. As a matter of fact they may have the highest number of girls playing in the academy than almost all clubs. Give them credit for winning at the highest level that they can play in. Unfortunately after u13 if you are not in ECNL or GDA you are not seeing the best teams.. If the 05 team stays together that is great for them. However, if a few players leave no one should be mad at those parents wanting to play in ECNL or GDA. No team stays the same...

I don’t disagree at all. I’ve seen it. I’ve also seen teams stay largely intact. SSA has lost some great talent over the years but so has every club. And I don’t have a problem with kids/parents moving to find themselves a better or different situation. At the end of the day though, this team is made up of 12/13 year olds. Why do they need to choose ecnl or da so early? Why not play the expanded NPL season and add 2 more showcases. Who knows if/when ECNL comes to SSA....
