1. 4-2-3-1 with 2 holding midfielders (variation of 4-3-3)
2. 3-5-2
Both are strong down the middle in defense. Good possession able to build out of the back with lots of passing options and minimize mistakes. Allows for multiple players to make runs and dynamic on the attack.

1-4-3-3
Works for nearly every situation if you know how to coach and tweak it.

Depends on the opponent, field (wide, narrow, short, long), weather, desired outcome, players available, etc. My favorite is 2-3-5. Actually did that in a tournament once about 30 years ago. That's right, 5 forwards. Why not. Surprises the heck out of the other team...
