I agree with Soccerhouse. For example take the 18 non AU who were invited to scrimmage AU’s u14s back in February. Those 18 are a talented group that if given an opportunity to train consistently together instead of the 2 hours they had on that Sunday, they could give AU a great match. If a local club picked could pick up all of them at u15 they would have a potentially special team, IMO.

It seems like the whole process is to make things "easy" on the USSF scouts. Problem is that 13-18 are years of huge growth and change. A 4'4" 12 year old may grow into a 5'8" 15 year old with sub-4.4 speed (and technical abilities to boot). Every age at every year should be a "back to the drawing board, lets find the best players again". IMO there should be state camps which lead to regional camps which lead to national camps every year. As much crap as is given the college football system, by the time they are 21, you KNOW who the best football players in the country are. They are re-evaluated every year of high school and college. Maybe they should put Nick Saban in charge of the YNT program. He would separate the wheat from the chaff every year. (And Im not an Alabama fan). The product championed by US Soccer is DA. They own DA. To sell it and keep a grip on the best players, they want most if not ALL Nat'l Team players to be in or have gone through the DA System. No issues there, right. The conflict comes into play when you are also the ones that pick members of the Nat'l Team too. The potential is just rife for shenanigans like this. IMO, I can think of at least 4 non-AU lads that should have been given a shot. Conversely, I can think of at least 2 AU lads who should not have been given the opportunity over others locally that play their same positions better. I don't know what the solutions are, but until that conflict of interest is wrestled away from US Soccer, expect more of the same...FG

I get that we're talking about the boys side here, but i guess no NEW Concorde or Crossfire girls will be invited to NTC's? Because they won't have a way to identify them. It's almost like they will have to send scouts to ECNL showcases... Of course, they could always put some backing behind a selective independent state to regional program...

This string is almost a year old but wondering if any talking about the YNT's for 2020 Most interested in the status of the 2006 Boys. There is supposed to be a ID camp in Atlanta Feb 13 2020. Any nes So I think there are two sides to this. There is the US Soccer TID - Talent Identification. This was the formerly called the NTC - National Training Centers. This occurs next like you said in February. Locally with AU in the mix, they gone away from inviting all the boys in the region to train and play together. Instead they have the AU team play the best non-AU team. Then you have the U-14 YNT TID, which is composed of inviting the "best" 80 boys to come in and go through a week long camp and games. This occurs over 3 regions(West, Central and East). From the 240 boys they pick 20 from each region and bring those into another YNT camp, where they pick 18-24 to represent the US in some type of tournament. Last year the West occurred in January, the Central in March and the East in April. The follow-up camp occurred in June and in October the team picked, played in the UEFA development tournament in Poland. I will add that this is US Soccer and this program was introduced last year. So, they always have the right to change things with new coaches and administrators in place 🙄🙄🙄
