Any thoughts on this new ECNL project? Any ideas how it works, and which clubs will benefit?

Unfortunately, I can't find an article but heard about it through second hand and was told this is not the same as a composite team.

I don't know...that sounds like SCCL. The only difference is that they took only all in ECNL clubs rather than a group of teams that wanted to collaborate for different reasons. If US Club is smart they will just rebrand NPL as ECRL and make it open to teams with DA and other teams as well. Then on both the girls and the boys sides they can have have competitions that match them (like they do at their showcases) and maybe even promote and relegate the top and bottom teams. But even if they choose not to promote and relegate if they mix it up at showcases having the ECRL best playing against mid or lower ECNL teams it will showcase everyone and give teams like AFC Lightning a chance to play AFU or CESA or some other ECNL teams that are a close match...(that is an example not meant to comment on the quality of any of the clubs in the area)

I think you two may be right. At least what this link says and what the south carolina lady told me, it sounds kinda like that. BUt does anyone know how this would affect the ECNL clubs in Ga (GSA, SSA/CF, TH and AFU)? Would it make their teams right below ECNL team attract better players?

It sounds exactly like SCCL...BUT...with the wording its an intentional snub of the DA clubs Solar Soccer Club and FC Dallas: "continued effort to raise the game" (raise the game is an ECNL slogan) "Founding members of the new platform include all ECNL ‘All In’ clubs"
Its like a USCS supported new league with middle-finger raised directly to USSF and DA.
IMO this is a good idea (as is the SCCL), but gotta chuckle at some of the phrasing: "destination clubs" "historical leaders" (and the best) "unrivaled cooperative platform" Who wrote this??? Also...omg I'm so tired of the overuse of the words ELITE and PREMIER in youth soccer. In this case...ECNL, ENPL, ECRL...E-REALLY??? You couldn't come up with a more original moniker?

Also, this sounds like an opportunity for US Club to bring all their National Premier leagues under a common league banner (below the ECNL banner of course). They could rebrand all these disparate regional leagues under a new National Regional League (NRL) conferences (SCCL would be one). As a I mentioned in the NPL thread, the top teams of the NRL in the spring could promote to a new NCL (champions league) with some top number of those teams going to the ECNL showcases at the end of the spring season. This would also allow for a streamlined approach by which smaller clubs could join US Club leagues like SCCL and work their way up to playing against ECNL teams should they have the mettle. They would really be pushing USYS out of the competitive market. Regional league/interstate league (SCCL) => Regional champions league => National champions league => ECNL showcases But then, I'm one for unified pathways. I wonder if USYS and USSF would then try to get together to do a similar thing with RPL => NL => DA showcases. Probably not, too many egos. But 2 paths would be better than the 47 we have now.

ECRL = Elite Clubs Regional League. I could not find much on it outside of the TX experiment

All the letters, makes my head hurt. So many leagues and designations simply designed to make take more money from soccer parents. I mean really do we need, NPL, SCCL, NL …… blah blah blah...… "My league is good, no mine is....."

Agreed, but US Club isn't going to give up their stake in the ground as the top path to college. USSF has far to much hubris to come to a place at the table where they are not considered the top dog. USYS, well, are they the oldest from a youth soccer standpoint? And...we are about to have competitor in MLS leaving USSF DA (which is a good move). Meaning there is a 4th "developmental" super-organization in the mix. USYS, USCS, USSF, MLS.
There's money to be made off of us and they will come at it from every angle they can...

More on the regional ECNL thing...
Girls ECNL Regional League Northeast Conference launching in Fall 2019 By News Desk / March 27, 2019
RICHMOND, VA (Via ECNL) – In an effort to provide competition and development opportunities for a deeper player pool, the Girls Elite Clubs National League will launch the Girls ECNL Regional League – Northeast Conference beginning in the 2019-20 season.
The Girls ECNL Regional League – Northeast Conference will include competition at the U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U18/U19 age groups.
The Girls ECNL Regional League platform was piloted in Texas in the 2018-19 season, where seven clubs within the ECNL Texas Conference participated in four age groups. The ECNL Regional League – Texas Conference was tremendously successful, providing great competition within a professional environment, and will expand in 2019-20.
Girls ECNL Regional Leagues provide local and regional competition within a conference structure, and are operated and managed by the Girls ECNL. The Girls ECNL Regional Leagues allow improved coordination between teams of different levels within ECNL clubs, and opportunity for players to develop and prepare for the Girls ECNL in the future.
Qualifiers from Girls ECNL Regional Leagues will earn post-season competition opportunities beginning in June 2020.
More information regarding the Girls ECNL Regional Leagues will be released in the coming weeks.

I know TPDL but i'm curious to see how the new Pyramid takes form and what it looks like 🤔🤔 Great point. Why not just do the ECRL in every conference? Why do you need NPL if you have ECRL? Aren't they essentially the same thing? Second teams at big clubs?

I don't see this as "taking more money from parents" In regards to the state of Georgia, I see this as the big clubs taking their next step towards moving away from GA Soccer, shifting the money somewhere else...and moving more under US soccer. You will see ECNL, ECRL, SCCL 1, SCCL 2...maybe a team or 2 in GA Soccer ranks. From my observation, These leagues are run better than anything GA Soccer touches.

The difference here is that all the clubs participating in ECRL are ECNL clubs. Making this equivalent to SCCL/NPL...but ONLY for ECNL clubs.
So for the SE, assuming NTH drops ECNL, we would have 3 GA clubs, 1 AL, and all 6 FL Florida clubs possible.
The problem with this is that it still involves MOST of the travel that ECNL does.
