Hearing FC Alliance of Knoxville, TN will be joining SCCL. Their boys play NPL and girls play ECNL currently.
Also NASA will drop DA. This makes sense after U12 was dropped.

Hearing FC Alliance of Knoxville, TN will be joining SCCL. Their boys play NPL and girls play ECNL currently. Also NASA will drop DA. This makes sense after U12 was dropped. Current MOU regarding the expansion of SCCL: - Adding one team from Knoxville, TN - Adding one team from Nashville, TN - Adding one team from Chattanooga, TN Agreement that the Knoxville & Nashville games are played in a close-by "neutral" site with Chattanooga being the current working site. This way, local ATL teams can travel there to go play a back 2 back game and return; Instead of driving all the way to either Knoxville or Nashville. Some local clubs have shown interest but working group is not ready to expand things locally. The leadership of one particular club though will not get the hint and tries to crash the working group meetings when he finds out where they are being held. Hint... think Vacuum

From what I’ve been told membership/families had plenty of questions that were not fully answered because he was not in attendance, instead other board members present took the line of fire in lieu of him.

We’ve been hearing TH is dropping ECNL...adding another out of state team to SCCL? Rather see some of the local NPL/NL teams swap over. SSA already has NPL and SCCL teams. For some, like FC Alliance, it wouldn't necessarily be dropping one to add another. Their boys NPL team at U19 had qualified for the ENPL last year.

Sounds like they have to drive 2+ hours to almost all of their games. The addition of three more clubs is good but how will this affect the schedule? Instead of home and away (which would be 20 games) will they play each team one time?

SCCL is going to expand into two tiers from what I am told and some of the clubs already in SCCL are going to add a 2nd team. I know this because most likely my son's team at his age group is likely going to be one of the ones going there next season instead of the Classic system for SSA.
At this point I don't even think these are "rumors". This is a done deal, I just don't know if everyone knows all the details yet. I'm not even sure the people that run SCCL know all the details yet.

so driving to games in Birmingham, Tennessee, South Carolina …. how is that really any better than the old RPL for the parents complaining about travel? Only difference I see is the competition is weaker so those parents don't have to complain about travelling to get beat.
So why all this travelling for that? If you want to expand just add local clubs like AFC, Roswell, LSA that would all add competitive teams and no additional travelling out of state! and don't tell me playing games in Chattanooga and driving back same day would be an ideal situation, for most that would be another hotel cost.

Spot on with these statements ☝ Additionally, one of the sticking points right now in regards to the addition of second teams is also the rationale of promotion/relegation. The working theory is for those with two teams to get their collective points and use that as a decision for pro/rel. Of course as you can imagine, clubs don't want to do that, especially if you only have one team. So back to the drawing board. As I hear more, i'll share...FG

Years ago RPL was well run and teams traveled with a partner team to play home and away. For example Tophat and NASA were partners, UFA and GSA (I think) were partners. TH and NASA would travel out of state (Greenville, Asheville, etc) to play a Saturday afternoon game and a Sunday morning game v. two local teams. That way you drove Saturday AM, played that afternoon, spent the night, played in the morning, and drove home. Basically played every other weekend - once a month away, once a month at home. Then RPL changed to a festival / tournament format and all of the games moved to stupid sites - Huntsville, Lake Mary, Savannah - that were convenient for no one. It turned into a 2 or 3 day event every 4 to 6 weeks. Rain outs played havoc, and there was no onsite management to rectify issues. Scheduling was retarded - they often had two ATL teams playing out of state. So the new SCCL is much more like the original RPL. Travel is on the table but minimized to single overnights with home and away. Not free, but way better than how RPL devolved.

As I hear more, i'll share...FG My son's team was told that they are now going to the GSA Revolution Tournament which is supposedly the Semi-Final and Final location for this big SCCL tournament that is being planned. We were told they would be playing some SCCL teams (maybe even the other SSA SCCL team) at his age group, and it would help determine which SSA team should be in the 1st tier and which should be in the 2nd tier. Honestly I think my son's team is better than the current SSA SCCL team for that age group but I think due to politics of being a satellite location they won't get the nod for 1st tier unless we can actually beat them or beat teams they can not.

This would ruin the minimal travel of SCCL. For Atlanta teams right now it is a trip to Greenville and an overnight trip to B’ham each season. I don’t want trips to TN, even if “nearby” Chattanooga, with a likely overnight stay.

I know, but the boys side dropping DA wouldnt likely have as big repercussions for the club as what's happening on the girls side.
NTH (girls) picking DA will have massive effects on tryout season. I would expect half of their 2nd teams to seek greener pastures. Picking ECNL (assuming 2 teams per age group) would have less of an effect on GA soccer as a whole.

I think parents are not drinking the ECNL koolaid so much. You dont have to travel to Florida every other weekend to play crappy teams snd then fly to Phoenix and California for tournaments just so your kid can play soccer at GS. TH second team is probably good enough to compete in the NL which has less travel than ECNL.

It would make sense for the boys to drop DA if they only keep 1 age group? U12 is gone, U13 is rumored to leave. If they're not given older groups what is the point of just having one. I have heard rumors about the girls side keeping DA and dropping ECNL

I just read an article about Florida creating and now duplicating the u12 DA and basically keeping it going with a new "pre-da" league. North carolina does this now for u11s.
Will be very interesting what the clubs do here -- it won't happen, but really would want to see all the top 12s playing against each other. afu, gsa, ssa, ufa, concorde, nasa and then which ever other teams are quality.

Agreed, if tophat at the U13 and up brackets on the girls side only had DA to separate themselves from the rest you are talking about a large group of quality girls who won’t just stick around for SCCL. They will be going to Concorde or Atlanta Fire.

The college coaches and recruiters use it as their first tool when even considering to evaualte a player.

Man. Making me work today! Deduction led me to armadas webpage! armadafcyouth.com/florida-academy-leagueFlorida Academy League forms to fill 12-U need among state's top clubs CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 1, 2019) – Fourteen clubs with U.S. Soccer Development Academy membership are creating the Florida Academy League to continue their player development focus at the 12-U boys age group. The move comes as a result of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy's decision to no longer host that age group – instead, trusting those programs to provide developmental opportunities for themselves within other structures. The Florida Academy League, sanctioned and supported by US Club Soccer, will initially host the current Academy 12-U programs in an intrastate competition. The league will maintain a high level of competition and standards, while also improving the league schedule by playing home and away matches with each club. Member clubs are as follows: Chargers SC GPS Florida West Florida Rush SC Inter Miami CF Jacksonville Armada FC Youth Academy Kendall SC Orlando City Youth Soccer Palm Beach Predators PSG Plantation FC South Florida Football Academy Tampa Bay Rowdies Wellington FC West Florida Flames Weston FC Through this initiative, these clubs ensure a challenging level of competition for the 12-U Academies, as well as providing the flexibility to continue to improve the league as it moves forward. In the past five years, these clubs have promoted 73 players to professional clubs and more than 200 players to top collegiate programs. "Creating the best environment for the advancement of talented 12-and-under players in South Florida is our priority, and the creation of the Florida Academy league will allow us to compete in a high-level, well-organized setting," said Victor Pastora, Inter Miami's Academy Coach. "At Inter Miami CF, we are grateful for the opportunity to join the Florida Academy League and look forward to contributing to its success." "It is a great step forward in the continued development of our young players when the Academy directors of the former USSDA 12-U league decided to maintain and enhance the age group by creating the Florida Academy League with US Club Soccer," added Roberto Lopez, Chargers SC Academy Director. "This enables the top 12-U players in the state to continue their path to play in the USSDA." "Providing a sound 12-U environment based on modern developmental standards and Players First principles will create the proper foundation for further growth for these players, no matter what level they eventually rise to," said Kevin Payne, US Club Soccer CEO/Executive Director. Players First is a branded, holistic club soccer experience for parents and players which emphasizes the development of each individual to his or her full potential, and helps parents make better choices about where their children should play. Players First is anchored by five pillars: Club Development Coaching Development Player Development Parent Engagement & Education Player Health & Safety US Club Soccer strives to create the safest environment for players in youth sports. Its vehicle for accomplishing that ambitious goal is the Player Health & Safety pillar of Players First. US Club Soccer has implemented best-in-class background checks, as part of its background screening process for all registered staff. The effort coincides with a requirement for those registered staff to complete a Sideline Sports Doc/US Club Soccer online injury recognition course, as well as SafeSport online training.
