I'm glad he didn't rush to sign a Homegrown contract, just so he could languish on the AU2 squad. First team is too stacked and it's very hard to break in. Wish him luck with the Terps. Hopefully he can use Maryland to reset things and potentially take another path to the Pros. Side note, if I remember correctly he'd be replacing another defender at Maryland, also named George Campbell...FG

Also worth noting that a kid from KSA's 01's is also apart of Maryland's recruiting class. The Terps have always been more willing to explore beyond the DA to get domestic recruits mostly in their talent-rich backyard up in the DMV. They can go after whoever they want, so the fact that they not only ventured down to Atlanta to watch a kid playing in USYS, but brought him into their team, definitely caught my eye.

$900K IN GAM: Also, I'm thinking they have the Cobb kid on a pseudo-HG contract that sees him leaving the 2s and joining the 1st team. AU needs to make room on the official 30 man first team roster for him...

Not sure he bit the dust here. Seems like a deal where everyone wins. He goes from fourth cb to possible starter but definitely more playing time. AU gets funny money and a roster spot to bring up another kid.

for sure in the end it's probably a good thing for him, but i'm sure when he signed the deal he was sold a dream along with the rest of the homegrowns before him. hopefully he gets PT at montreal or his career will likely be over.
