Only the actual SCCL team cannot play, not the whole club. Plus I believe that rule was thrown out.

I agree, I believe only the SCCL teams can't play but like someone else already mentioned I believe we're all family again(kind of). So with SCCL 1 & SCCL2, that mean even more teams from the local 5 Georgia clubs that won't play in the state cup...FG

What is the sccl 2 versus 1 about? SCCL or for the sake of demarcating the two, SCCL 1, is going to be made up of the current 8 teams. 5 teams from Georgia, 2 teams from Alabama and 1 from South Carolina. I believe they are trying to add a couple more teams from outside Georgia to bring it 10, maybe 11 teams. That would give each team 18 - 20 games per season(fall and spring for younger teams.) SCCL 2 as of now, will be made up of only the Georgia teams, who would get a second team. After the upcoming year, promotion and relegation will go into effect...FG

AFU will be in SCCL 2 along with some other team(s) and other teams from the current clubs.

I'm looking forward to comparing and contrasting the SCCL vs State Cup competition divisions when they are released, it should be interesting. Currently I would still lean to State Cup being more competitive since I would give the Piedmont NL teams a slight advantage over NPL and a large advantage over SCCL teams. The SCCL brackets could be more competitive depending on how many ECNL teams participate.

I think for as long as he was there, I had a penchant to ignore AFU only because of their former leader. I have to reprogram myself to think otherwise 🤪🤪🤪

Other than that there are rumors out there. I'm wondering if AFU will put a Gold/3rd team into this position since it will likely be a lower level than the current SCCL, which for half the bracket is only really A/I? Unless there will definitely be promotion/relegation after the fall. And would BUSA be okay with this since they are the bottom of the current brackets for the Spring (girls).

I can't speak for the overall (boys vs girls and each age group) but I can say my opinion is that you severally underestimate just how even the leagues you mention are... In fact, I would say, at least in the younger age groups, it is the reverse of what you said. Unfortunately, Soccermom's statement is right, GA soccer really screwed up by excluding those teams to begin with. Now we are stuck arguing over these $ driven alphabet leagues and the kids and the parents deal with the madness of weaving through soccer in georgia. It seems eerily similar to american politics... everyone is divided and talking about how great their side is, while not focusing on how to fix the issues, while those in powerful positions, let the public/parents squabble as long as they don't have to do anything to rectify the problems and provide solutions.
