I have a daughter on the ecnl team at Tophat and one of the coaches confirmed with me that ecnl is dropped. Apparently the SCCL will be the replacement not sure how accurate that is.

Could this be the big announcement people are waiting for over in gasoccerforum.com/thread/3759/ufa-spring-2019-newsletter ?

My sources tell me that TH is out on ECNL and are pushing DA for 2 teams. Frankly, it is a smart play for them, but I wonder if it will be that effective even if it does work. I say this for two reasons: First, at each age group there are 10-20 kids who are very serious and will succumb to the no high school rule whether they like it or not. However, that does not fill 2 teams and I don't think there are 30 or so such kids in each age group at TH. Second, I think that being on the "second DA team" is not very strong marketing. I know ECNL is their "second team" but there is a perk for those kids--HS soccer. Just my thoughts. Perhaps the second team DA kids would be able to play high school ball.

Could this be the big announcement people are waiting for over in gasoccerforum.com/thread/3759/ufa-spring-2019-newsletter ? That would be highly unlikely. UFA would not set a specific date for the announcement (originally May 11th) and have it be about another club dropping ECNL.

Have heard from another NTH parent that ECNL is dropped but the club not announcing it, hoping families will drink the kool aid that SCCL is the replacement. Also heard that some existing NTH SCCL families were unhappy with the lack of competitiveness of SCCL. An interesting problem to be sure. I think they'll land on their feet.

ECNL 2019-20 Club MapFirst piece of evidence supporting what has been speculated here. NTH missing from the ECNL club map for 2019-20. Real Colorado is also missing from the map.

Wonder about NCFC, So Cal Blues, Solar and FC dallas... they are still on it, but they haven't all quite completed their seasons yet or just did.

Just based on watching the early days of tryouts last year: there are a lot of people who will make pretty big sacrifices to get on a top TH team. I saw one family willing to travel 90+ minutes each way for practices. When it became clear they weren't making the top squad, many went other places. I suspect if they had 2 teams they could recruit enough players to have both be 2 competitive - especially if they agreed to mix the teams up so they battled with each other. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

The talk is that they will have a DA Development team that would be a step below the true top team but they would be able to play HS and compete against top clubs in the southeast. I am sure I am missing some valuable information so hopefully some of the people in the know can spread better information. Hopefully an announcement will be made soon so the girls and their families decide what direction they want to go. As usual turmoil before tryout season

Apparently they also have 7 dots in Florida but only 6 teams listed. There is a second dot in south Florida...anyone know who the new club in south Florida is? Or is it a mistake?

Glad that we have some people on here that can explain these leagues to us. Hopefully we find out soon if this is going to happen. If Tophat doesn't get this I wonder if there will be a mass exit of girls. I know SCCL is good but I know that parents would probably go to another ECNL team due to SCCL being such a new league. I am sure over time it will be right there with ECNL and NL but right now it still needs time
