So heard some what crazy thing tonight at the fields from coaches that typically don’t gossip but Tony is leaving AUFC to go back to Norcross. Something about Ufa pays more the AUFC and he’s looking to get his own MLS gig. he and FdB are on two different pages plus Tony is pissed he was not looked at for the head coaching job.
Anyone heard anything???
Is this the big UFA announcement???

UFA pays more than the AU academy director position? That’s simply unbelievable.

UFA pays more than the AU academy director position? That’s simply unbelievable. Oh absolutely. Norcross/UFA was paying close the $200K a year. I’m sure AUFC is paying half that to him. Uncle Artie may have a lot of money but it’s not in the Academy program for staff.

Interesting rumor. Sounds from above this is more than a rumor. The silence on this is strange. Many many folks with inside knowledge on here.
My contacts would not confirm the rumor. But that doesn’t mean a lot either.

Sorry it has to be a rumor. No disrespect to UFA but stepping out of a MLS academy to go back to local club would be a big step backwards. If he is moving which highly, highly doubt, it would be for another MLS club and/or to a first team opportunity. I think his current role is higher on the food chain than the ATl 2 role but I could be wrong.

Sounds like silly season to be honest. A byproduct of a system that’s a tree rather than a pyramid. In a pyramid results talk. In a tree, it’s just a bunch of noisy birds shi tting on things.

I have heard “everything isn’t “ perfect for sure - but that’s a good gig to move up the ladder.

Interesting story indeed. I’m curious if they spoke to TA himself or came up with this rager of a story on their own. I will try to answer the prevailing questions asked above. No this is definitely not the UFA announcement; There is a play to be made at Nocross, but it has nothing to do with TA. Also if TA is looking to get his own MLS gig, he is going to need a lot more $$ than he can make at UFA. So with that cleared up, here are the facts.
TA does not report to FdB, but instead to Carlos B. TA recommended Stephen Glass for the vacated AU2 gig. Stephen was the U17 Academy team coach, so TA had to step back on to the pitch to finish out the season. So, no, TA does not want the AU2 gig, but is in fact leaving the coaching ranks of AU but for the corner office of being the AU Academy Director and hiring someone else from West Ham to fill in the coaching void he's leaving. True, TA was going to temporarily be returning to UFA but it was to be the Keynote Gala Speaker at the now defunct UFA Gala.
In the first year and a half as TA was getting his Pro/MLS Academy certifications and getting the academy off of the ground, he made good money but truly not as much as he did as the defacto founder and Executive Director at UFA. Remember, he was solely in charge of the once vaunted Nike Norcross Cup Tourney that brought in premium sponsors and high level teams and scouts from around the nation. All that allowed him to rack and stack $$$ as early as 2 years prior to the AU creation going public since he was personally recruited by Uncle Artie himself. So, TA is not going back to UFA for financial reasons. Not only does he do well but let's not forget bonuses from profits are shared with staff.
Also side note. The cute owner of the Inter Miami FC, reached out to TA to get the Academy Program up and running in south beach. Smartly, TA was able to mastermind that into more $$$ for AU to keep him.
So in conclusion, welcome to the Silly Season, I hope you've enjoyed the entertainment 😎😎

Speaking of closing does UFA Milton still exist?
