I posted this in another thread (sorry catching up as alot of interesting posts) but might need its own thread:
Ok... I am sorry if this has been covered but from a ton of research tonight, my understanding of the league totem pole is as follows:
1) DA 2) Ecnl/NPL (some might fight me on this but after some heavy review, US Club is definitely positioning NPL as the ECNL equivilant) 3) SCCL 4) USYSA NL 5) USYSA Piedmont/SCCL Premier 6) Classic/Athena
Any objections...??

I understand but it crosses over as to showcase and open playoffs so something must be in the works, just trying to get an idea what the ultimate plan is.

You got it almost right. I would put NL above NPL. And SCCL is probably closer to Athena A/B. Of course you might get an occasional really good team in any league. Relegation and promotion need to be introduced to the US club socxer leagues or they will continue to have lopsided games and a dont run the score up rule.

It doesn’t matter if you think USCS is positioning ECNL & NPL as equivalent. You have to see how the clubs with both are positioning them, and that is 100% across the board that ECNL is the team above NPL. So fix that on your totem. Also, to rate this correctly, you do the hypothetical as to how clubs would set their team hierarchy if they offered all the leagues/levels presented. There are many good teams on smaller clubs in which NL is the highest level available, but would be 5th level on the larger clubs that offer ECNL, NPL, SCCL, SCCLp, and might be playing at an NPL level but not in that league. Of course, ECNL’s exclusivity push has limited clubs having both ECNL & DA (and their respective under-leagues), so the totem is more like a split-leader tree (three columns) - mostly on the girls side, the boys side is pretty clear. So, Girls: DA. ECNL DPL. NPL. NL (National) SCCL. SCCL. NL (Regional) Athena. Athena. Athena Format problems, but should be viewed as three columns.

You forgot about Super Y. I would say super y is close to NPL.

What is NL regional? Is that where the ECNL teams used to play?

What is NL regional? Is that where the ECNL teams used to play? This question is why I always tried to clarify the NL as Piedmont Conference. The new set up is confusing to some because the old set up had different designations for both boys and girls with specific names to delineate the level (RPL, SRPL, NL). The new set up, especially for girls, lacks that clarity. So NL regional was intended to be Piedmont Conference, which is actually the old RPL. National league (National) is the actually top level of their pyramid where the best of the best play their National play over two weekends. This year Georgia Rush 04G and LSA 05G and UFA 02G were some that participated. I know your comment was intended to be sarcastic but in case some newbies did not know that I felt that clarification was in order

Wouldn't it be better just to have a 4 game tournament over a long weekend? Two of the five clubs don't even have DA or ECNL teams. Its just their top teams. Seems so odd.

What do you find so funny? Probably your single mindedness towards dissing everything that isn't "earn your place" US Youth. Having played against both Athena A teams and SCCL teams there is a sizable difference in most cases. Plus the SCCL-P teams at most clubs were already Athena A this year (or last year) or would be promoted to it based on results this season.

I agree that ECNL is at the top...I do wonder if NPL and NL aren’t closer to parity, at least on the boys side (<U15). At/AfterU-15 it’s hard to say.

We played NPL the last few years and there are some good clubs but overall that league is not better than GAL or NL. It is on par with Piedmont though it may be better this year as Piedmont continues to weaken. NPL weakens as well though. They keep losing clubs. Lost Charlotte Independence North and South to ECRL and Wake to GAL. Replacement teams Wake North, Vestavia, South Carolina Surf. Only one is a strong club. SCCL got better. Girls 1) ECNL 2) GAL 3) NL 4) SCCL/NPL/Piedmont probably depends on age group 5) SCCL-P 1 6) everyone else

That is a trash ranking designed to rehash an old topic, so move on. But I will say npl as number 2 is a f*king joke So how would you rank them? I took some liberties in merging boys and girls. It is not equal and shouldn't have been merged, but its all smack talk. ECRL put a big dent in NPL. SCCL keeps dinging GA Soccer Still think GAL is silly tho. If we were talking about value per $ I'd put it below Athena And I forgot CCL! I'd put that just ahead of SCCL.

SCCL over USYS NL, really? ECNL (or should we say "Ecnl") and NPL on same boat, really? DA is no more. It's ECNL and everyone else follows. The order depends on whom you ask, whose kid plays where and who has more posters on the forum. Better yet, let them play each other.
