I have traveled with teams out of town several times, although, it's been a couple of years. What's the deal with Mandatory Housing? Is this legit? Will tournaments actually deny you from coming if you don't stay in hotels they receive commission off of? Seems like a racket to me.

club typically gets XX dollars back per room, hence why they do it. (maybe $10 -$15 a night).
i've never heard of a tourney being booted for not staying at mandatory hotel, but i'm sure its happened before.

For Vulcan Cup in AL, we had to use a specific agency that messed up so badly we were scrambling for rooms at check in! If they're going to mandate who and how you book, they need to hire competant companies.

Spectator, we just had the exact same thing happen to us down in Savannah, just a freakin' joke. Of course, I tried to reach the Director, he is hiding in his shell. So frustrating!
