Can only comment on the u13 and u14 Girls and Boys games today but the quality of matches were very good. Almost every game decided by one goal. Weather much better today as well

On the girls side, definitely not at ECNL quality, even from the NL teams, but a couple good battles nonetheless. LSA/Inter 05s went to extra time. AFU/AFC 06s was much closer than expected. Good to see NTH Mills 05 go down to Santos to end that whole controversy. NTH 06 Navy obliterated Santos.

The two are not always the same thing. Really, both. The only goals were on mistakes by both teams. AFC is the better team, but the AFU containment strategy generally worked.

True, BUT no one is saying it is ECNL quality because actually ECNL has never been recognized by Georgia Soccer. From personal experience it was definitely as good as mid to lower ecnl game, any high level NPL or Champions league game.

The '04 - U15 girls final between GA Rush & CFC Red Star will be ECNL quality. I don't have a kid on either side but both teams have been able to compete at the highest level in their age group for a few years now. I believe they played against each other last year in the finals, too.

Really, both. The only goals were on mistakes by both teams. AFC is the better team, but the AFU containment strategy generally worked. Containment strategy? Do you mean they bunkered in? Playing more defensively and marking certain players and just trying to keep everything in front of them. Worked in the first half pretty well. A couple bad touches by defender in the 2nd half lead to goals (same for AFC).

AFC beat NTH Navy in pks (4-3).
0-0 tie for the game and a well played game for both teams.

Just checked the site and all the scores are posted except for U13 girls? NTH Navy lost to AFC in pks 4-3. Game was 0-0 and both teams had their chances. The 7 made pks were impossible to stop. NTH missed 1 pk and the AFC goalie made a great save on 1. Overall, a very entertaining game.

Rush striker is one of the top kids in the State regardless of league, cant believe any of the big 5 have not been able to get her.

Last day at State Cup brought quality soccer and finalists and Champs brought their game today regardless of score; Hats off to the ones that made it to the last whistle.
For the Ones that choose not to attend, best of luck to whatever alphabet league you may play in... Aug tournaments and Fall schedules are right around the corner.
For the teams that could be repeat State Champs, Good Luck in Regionals.

With about 5 mins left, TH had a shot bounce off the underside of the x-bar which must have landed on line with backspin because it came back into the field. Sad that someone had to lose in PK. As entertaining as it is, it's such an arbitrary way to end a season. Not that I have a better alternative.

I think the important thing is that both sets of parents were awesome! 😬

Why no U18 girls champion they ended in a tie?? The 18U girls with only five teams played a true round robin with everyone playing the other four opponents. AFC Lightning 01 Gold only needed to tie or beat Inter Atlanta to win the championship.

Did any of the big 5 win any age groups? I would assume not since none of the Big 5 (except from what I am hearing NTH at some age groups) even attended State Cup.

I saw UFA working the concession stand on the last day so that’s probably closest they came to holding the state cup (LOL)

I'll take "top teams" with a grain of salt and a laugh. Most of the Big 5 teams that went to State Cup other than a couple of NTH teams that might have played both SCCL or and GA Soccer league games were the Big 5's 3rd or 4th team most likely. Assuming that they have DA or ECNL, NPL and/or SCCL. You would not get more than any big club's 3rd or 4th team. That is what I meant in my comments, and of course most likely those 3rd and 4th teams are not going to beat the 1st/2nd team of most smaller clubs.
