I have a rising U12 daughter who plays on a good team at a non-SCCL club. Last year at U11, they played the top teams from all of the GA SCCL clubs and held their own (think they went maybe 1-5-1 overall, but all of the games were competitive - played some of the SCCL clubs Fall and Spring and some only once). Anyone know if the U12 SCCL teams this past year ever played non-SCCL teams in Academy games or did they strictly play an SCCL schedule? Just trying to figure out if my daughter's team will have any competition this year or if those clubs will only send their lower teams for the Academy fixtures at U12.

Regular season is SCCL vs SCCL only. Only outside play would be a tournament or possibly a scrimmage. So yes, academy games would be scheduled against 2nd teams for clubs/locations with SCCL.

I thought sccl teams were the sencond and third teams at the Big clubs are SCCL. After that most big clubs would be down in Athena B level.

@u12 the SCCL teams play only SCCL games aside from tournaments. You will be playing 2nd teams as SCCL is the top team for this age group (no DA U12 this year). It is possible to play against some non-rostered SCCL players if they pool their players, but from what I could tell only GSA did that last year.
Honestly, I'm not 100% sure how SCCL will work this year since I've heard rumors of clubs getting multiple teams, etc.

At U12 they are the top team because ECNL and DA dont start until the older age groups. Therefore, the SCCL will be every big 5's top team, hence greater competition. That's one reason why AU will have a team in the U12 SCCL also... but it's the same on the girls side also. Sorry to disappoint...

Yes however; The original post is about U12 girls which is different. There is no girls DA or ECNL at U12 Girls. So that paints a different picture. The SCCL U12G will be mostly "top" teams ... depending on that silly pyramid. Clubs with a U13 ECNL will have their U12 Pre-ECNL team play in SCCL (Pre-ECNL festival for U11/U12 is run by ECNL in the spring at the ECNL U13/14 Showcase) U12 SCCL Clubs with a U13 ECNL team: BUSA CESA Concorde GSA SSA (ECNL alliance with Concorde) That leaves: NTH (with the dropping of ECNL will there be a U12 or U13 team in the DPL league? if not SCCL would be NTHs topteam) VHSC ( I don't see that they have an ECNL or that they play in NPL so SCCL should be their top team) UFA (oye ... so ... does anyone know if UFA Norcross 08 premier are SCCL or SCCL-p? And is Fowler U12 in NPL?) WOW ... I never realized how competitive that U12G SCCL bracket must have been. So yes even though the SCCL teams only play in the SCCL league during league play ... It appears to be a pretty high level league if it is 7 out of 8 clubs top most teams And yes most played other teams at other tournaments. Most teams traveled for at least one out of town tournament. Since this is Youth Soccer in Georgia ... anything can happen regarding Leagues so Good luck decision making ... I hope your daughter finds a team she enjoys.

She's not leaving her current team. She's very happy and getting significantly better. I was just curious if her team would play the u12 SCCL teams or not. I guess the verdict is no, except maybe in tournaments.

I think then one of those two would become the ECNL, NPL, DA in the following years U13-U14. I'm not 100% sure on that though.

I don't know how UFA will then transition to their other leagues beyond the U12... with Norcross and Forsyth, with their NPL and eventually DA.

SCCL is good branding, but it's basically the old Classic 1/2 (Athena A/B) level, just with "Champions League" in the name. My advice would be to find a good fit for your kid and don't worry about the name of the league. Yes, DA and ECNL have their advantages, but after that we're pretty much talking re-branding of the Classic/Athena leagues.
