Beyond the travel and expense? NPL doesn’t compare to ECNL travels to Fl and back nearly twice a month.
Talent wise, ENCL is by far better too, NO comparison

Usually top to bottom, ECNL is better, but there are some really good NPL teams
06 boys UNITED FUTBOL ACADEMY UFA 06B PREMIER/NPL 00/01 UNITED MOUNT PLEASANT USA/MP 00/01 NPL
UFA, AFC and SSA has some other great NPL teams
These teams against the top ECNL teams would be an amazing game. These NPL teams would wipe the floor with the bottom ECNL teams.
The 00/01 UNITED MOUNT PLEASANT USA/MP 00/01 NPL team makes up most of the Wando HS soccer team and they have been #1 in the country in HS for 2 out of the last 3 years.

ECNL would wipe the bottom NPL. Not sure that matters. Top NPL cannot play with the top ECNL consistently.

Having experience in both sides....girls = generally ECNL girls is stronger that NPL. Boys = Toss up as have seen it by a case by case basis. NPL nationals crosses over to ECNL nationals and it is very competitive. So in summary, girls ECNL is stronger than NPL but on the boys side it is a case by case basis.

This is not even worth its own thread, now if you want to do NPL be Piedmont okay but even most of those results in tournaments, look SSA tournament February 2019, had the Piedmont winning

It should be SSCL v NPL.
US Club soccer recognizes SCCL higher than NPL. Quite a few SCCL teams beat NPL teams recently.

As for ECNL/NPL, obviously it varies by age. ECNL is top to bottom better, with some overlap. Mid table and up NPL will be a good match for bottom to middle table ECNL, but higher ECNL teams are almost always stronger. The argument about SCCL is probably similar as there are lots of clubs where SCCL is the next team below DA or ECNL.. some clubs have NPL or Piedmont/NL.

You mean all two of them?? continue... other than some clubs's pyramid, I haven't seen a USCS ranking either, btw.

Hopefully the NPL vs ECNL debate isn’t about u14/U15/u16 cause UFA boys (exception U17&19s) proved they can’t compete with AFU, Concord or GSA ECNL level teams; UFA lower teams struggle at times with the DA as the primary teams

Opinions galore NPL vs ECNL , how can you judge the 2 if they don’t play each other until ENPL playoffs? Can’t say one is better than the other except for opinion. For girls yes ECNL has been around for a while and still DA trying to pull out an Elite Girls league for GDA but ECNL looks to be thriving as they have always been. However, there are some great girls NPL teams like SSA 04 & 05 girls National Champions. I’m sure they would fair very well in ECNL. For Boys ECNL is new and NPL is working on a transition from a supplemental league to the league of primary competition.
However, both leagues are run from US Club Soccer so to them it’s the same amount of $$$ per player. Do they advertise that ECNL is Elite over NPL or do they say NPL is Elite over ECNL? I think not.

One option to judge NPL vs ECNL is simply judge their quality of play within their divisions beyond regular season; is the team post season quality or simply another team in the bracket?, how are players chosen and post quality of players that depart or remain.
The quality of play from the player and team will speak louder than a stat sheet or local tournament medal when it comes to who is better opinions... purely easy solution, match up the final four/final two of each league and let the pitch figure it out...
Problem is, what do you do when the Ga teams aren’t better than mid level quality at best?? Have an out of state team come in and walk away with bragging rights knowing are the best in Ga? Ya right!!

Last year's SSA 05 and 06 girls top teams are in ECNL now under Concorde Premier. 05s finished 1st and 06s finished 5th in the Southeast ECNL division. In turn, the 05 and 06 NPL teams this current year were SSA's second teams.

Again, will repeat. For girls, ECNL is better. For boys, it is a case by case basis as to which better. This helps a ton and thanks for posting.

Girls: Please note, this is an ever evolving landscape. Last year SSA did not have access to ECNL so their top team (large club) played NPL. To their credit they won the highest league they had access to. This year SSA has access to ECNL through CF and thus their top teams play ECNL with 2nd teams playing SCCL and their teams NPL. So it is a year by year AND club by club scenario. Not sure about boys as I only study and watch girls games

Boys side for Concorde/SSA is below:
DA ECNL NPL SCCL
Other clubs, not sure. It depends on what league they have access to.

No. NPL is above SCCL at SSA in every age group except 08/U12. 08 SCCL will be the top team because it is the last age of Academy and all of the Big 5 clubs are on even playing ground with respect to leagues. No DA or ECNL yet. And yes 04gparent, it is an ever evolving landscape. Just like this year with Tophat giving up ECNL and adding the new DPL league. We definitely can't plan ahead from year to year.
