I forgot to add a few of the parents deciding to go back on their word didn’t bother telling the people who organized the meeting until the night before tryouts, the day of tryouts , or even after tryouts. When you wrote this post, did you refer to your earlier post which said: For those trying to create division amongst the parents of the AFU team please stop . This quote may be of use: “How do I know what I think until I see what I say?”

So first , get that through your brain . I said the ONLY thing that caused some confusion /stress is the TIMING of the back outs. Obviously you are a member of those who chose to stay . That in no way says either side is wrong .

Sounds like a good idea. Think that it would need to be a two game home and home series decided on aggregate. Home and home?!? They’re both the home teams, it’s the same club! It’s like okay what shade of Dunkin’ Donuts do you wanna wear, and then just play. Not really. With different branches, most are really separate organizations playing in the same uniform. Forsyth would need to come to Norcross and Norcross would need to go to Forsyth. Not to mention, a two game series is much more representative of who the better team is instead of a one off match.

Having played been part of SCCL for a year and hearing about the cancellations, and the number of actual games the NPL team played, Fowler can keep NPL. Now as to who gets SCCL 2, that is a battle that might be worth fighting Red vs Red.
Not sure how it would play out at other clubs.

Doesn't that depend on who tries out where? Team this year maybe different from the one prior/next. Exactly so Tryouts end this week and you play next weekend single elimination style to decide which team is really the “best”. Farther you go better placement you get between Athena A-C, NPL, NL, SCCL-P, SCCL, Ecnl and DA (did I get them all 🤷🏻♂️) depending on what the club has. You missed DPL!

Final tally and let the stress die:).
Norcross: 1. Norcross picked up four starters and one reserve from AFU NL 2. Picked up four starters from GSA who were 05’s playing up as 04’s. 3. Picked up a Tophat ECNL player who came over when they dropped ecnl.
AFU
1. Kept nine from last year .
3rd Club
1. Picked up 2 from the AFU team last year .
Now everyone can go their own way and will still remain friends .
Personally , and with bias, I think Norcross came out better but that just My opinion. Added two strikers who attack the goal with speed with aggression. Kept the ODP keeper.

This issue was only an issue for certain age groups, but has been resolved for the future. All NPL teams have committed to making NPL their primary league or they left NPL. There will be 16 games in fall for the U15 and up and 28 games for the year for U13 and U14. There have been standards put in place that are the same ones as SCCL and other higher leagues (trainers, tents, etc) though we did not have trouble with that in our travels. They all also having an NPL showcase in Atlanta and other upgrades. We had a good experience last year and I think it will be even better this year.

Those would be good updates and make the league much more valuable to teams.

I just can’t resist ... I have to say it ....
So NPL is copying SCCL standards AND OTHER HIGHER LEAGUES in order to make NPL better??!!!
How do I spell that word ... ironic?!!!
LOL
Someone update that pyramid that doesn’t lie LOL

Interesting idea, that may settle which team gets SCCL or SCCL - P but not sure about the others. Reason being, players tryout for certain alphabet leagues and they sign up to play in that league for a season. I know this is a hypothetical discussion but would DA or ECNL be ok with this?

If your DA or ECNL team cannot beat your SCCL or SCCL-P team to retain the spot, you are either terrible at evaluating talent or all of your teams really suck.

I am also suspecting that politics and club loyalty play a role.

LOL Someone update that pyramid that doesn’t lie LOL Well they announced those standards but I never attended a match that did not have all of those things anyway. I also wasn't implying that SCCL was higher than NPL. I should have put a comma in...SCCL and other, higher leagues (i.e DA and ECNL). While I have respect for SCCL I do think that NPL would still be considered a higher league based on TPDL and also how the local clubs with both view it. After all...with the current structure all of the out of state teams in NPL are actually top teams.

Its pretty obvious that some SCCL teams are better than bottom half of NPL teams. I think arguing strength of those 2 leagues is pointless.
Regarding the OP, so i finally looked at the brackets that will become 05 SCCL-P. AFU 05 is mid-table NL (3rd place GA team that could have been in danger of relegation had someone other than Roswell, LSA or IAFC won state cup). Other than them, 4 of the 6 GA SCCL-P teams are Athena A, the only Athena B team is UFA Fowler 3rd team...who was 2nd place B this spring and would be A in the fall. Point is, this will be a competitive, Athena A quality league.

A lot of those teams have gone through drastic roster changes this week during tryouts. We had Concorde parents reaching out to some of our parents about getting contact info for players on Athena C teams to go play SCCL Premier. Sccl premier is going to be Athena B as sccl is still Athena A. There’s always going to be exceptions but for the middle third (3rd-7th) of these groups id bet money to be pretty equal teams.
