They look awful, disorganized and lost on the pitch. Venezuela is completely outclassing them. US Soccer needs to reevaluate. They have taken drastic steps back IMO.

We are nowhere ready for the Gold Cup if this is our team. What's up with our development or lack thereof of players? Our backline is unimpressive and that's a compliment.

US MNT is continuing to slide negatively. US Soccer appears to be completely clueless as to how to resolve the ongoing issues.

How can you argue with that statement? It is spot on when looking at this performance. Trinidad and Tobago beat us last time. This game doesn't give me a lot of confidence going into the rematch. We should be piquing at this point.

Your point is what? This team has the talent and desire to win the Gold Cup? I would not bet any $ in Vegas. Hopefully they get it figured put.

When Berhalter said he wanted to bring change and fresh ideas to the #USMNT I was under the impression he meant for the better.

I would think they would look better if Pulisic and Tyler Adams were playing today. That said, those guys would not have altered the 1st goal. That was all on Zach Steffen.
Against Jamaica and Venezuela, the US squad has not been able to break down organized defenses, and have shown a tendency to give the ball away all over the field.
Were I the coach of Guyana, T&T, and Panama, I would press high in numbers. When the US is attacking, I would get 11 behind the ball, and stay organized. Guyana may not have the talent to do that, however I think T&T and Panama can certainly execute that game plan.
I simply do not know enough about Berhalter to have an opinion, however, only so much of this is his fault. He certainly did not instruct Steffen to pass the ball directly to an opponent. He definitely does not coach the players to pass to the other team.
It is my hope the US can gain some confidence quickly, or they will not get out of their group during the Gold Cup.

Terrible play, but the player by our keeper was in an offside position and received the ball from his teammate - should have been flagged and not a goal. The US defender was about 6 yards from the end line, attacker was about 3-4 yards. Another fine officiating job.

3rd goal should have been flagged for offside as well. Attacker clearly ahead of the defender for the last 10 yards of the run before the ball was played. That AR had a nightmare game.

Let's make excuses. They were totally outplayed until Altidore came in. You could argue it was 50/50 after that. Did you listen to the commentators? They said much the same.

The World Cup comes to our shores in just under 7 years. Sounds like a lot but it's not. Before Germany won the WC in 2014, they had to retool and rethink their entire process top to bottom. The US just chooses to use band-aids with no clear strategy. At the very least you don't see things changing much so we maybe shouldn't be surprised at the same results. Here is a little insight into the German Retooling - www.theguardian.com/football/2015/sep/05/germany-football-team-youth-development-to-world-cup-win-2014

Not to be perceived as excuses for bad play. Looked sloppy and amateurish, but had some decent chances in the 2nd half. Not sure how much of that was VZ backing off. Just pointing out what to me were clear and obvious errors by the officiating crew.

Aren't your recommendations 2 conflicting philosophies. How can a team high press in numbers and get 11 behind the ball? Typically, have to chose 1 or the other. You either get 11 behind the ball and park the bus or you high press and get turnovers but are exposed to the long ball. This USMNT has not shown the ability to defeat either style but I would think USMNT would have a better chance of playing boom ball and trying to get 1 v. 1 with striker v. central defender.

Ha ha. Good one. Overall the thing that shocked me was the lack overall competitiveness for most of the match as many looked like they were going through the motions and trying to avoid injury. Add the lack of organization in the back... Pretty shocking. Is this a process issue or is there actually a problem at hand?
