1 Defender needed for 2005 Girls Piedmont National league team, ideally looking for 1 CB but would also consider a defensive center mid.
Looking for a NL, NPl, SCCL level player. Team conveniently located northern Gwinnett county/ hall county

Why is all the ISO posts primarily for CBs? Is this position not desirable or taught well enough? What’s the deal?

Why is all the ISO posts primarily for CBs? Is this position not desirable or taught well enough? What’s the deal? I have wondered this myself. The CB is such a critical position yet many players and parents shy away from it because they are too focused on being a goal scorer. I have always wished for a bad @$$ CB on our team(s) but the coaches don't ever focus enough on developing that position as much as some of the others.

Also, their is a lot of pressure that goes with the position. If a forward makes 6 mistakes and scores 1 goal he could still be man of the match; if a CB makes 6 mistakes you could lose 6-nil.

Get beat or make a mistake once and get blamed for giving up a goal. Do 20 things right and barely anyone notices. As a forward every time you make 20 mistakes and people say “oh so close, you almost scored”, do 1 thing right and you are a hero. Is it any wonder people shy away from center back?

Agreed to your comment. The GK can have a couple great saves but let's one get in the back of the net and you lose 1-0 and everyone blames the goalie. Don't get me wrong CB's get blamed also, but you always hear the goalie should have pick that player up. But on the flip side, you have a great defense and the goalie get a lot of credits for the clean sheet, even though the player might not have been involved. My daughters has gotten some credit for that, as well as some blame. Nerve racking for a parent

Keepers as well, but no one expects a keeper to make the save on a free shooter or PK. And both of those situations are likely due to CB mistakes.

Agree that goalkeeper mistakes are magnified but they get the glory of the good save. A high pressure position no doubt and much of what a good goalkeeper does is unappreciated, but everyone recognizes a nice save. No one (or very few) remembers good center back play.

My oldest is a goalie turned center back so I know how nerve-wracking being a goalie parent is 😬
