So, now that we are through tryouts, what was the final bloodbath/fallout from the Tophat/ECNL dilemma?
Had friends at GSa tryouts who told us of 3 girls from the Tophat ecnl u13 (2006) team who tried out at tophat DA but after not being offered a spot went to GSA tryouts on night 3 of tryouts and ended up making the GSA ECNL team. This then knocked 3 GSA girls off ecnl and since was last night of tryouts those girls had no chance to leave for another ecnl team.
So yes I guess some Tophat parents smartly did not decide to buy into the dpl hype and also word of caution that tryouts is bottom line big business and always be wary if your player is a bubble player.

Happened at many clubs not just GSA at multiple age groups. Many Tophat girls were taken sight on seen at all levels DA - ECNL. Also know of a club forming an ECNL team with 5-6 former SCCL girls and some ECNL girls from Tophat.
Welcome to the big business of youth soccer. Thank God Almighty I only have 2 more years of this. Then I join Futsul Goddess for drinks on the sidelines lol

Seen this for years on the girls side - pretty standard.
I’ve got 6 more years of this madness.... at least until my youngest quits to become a professional violinist or singer/song writer.......

No Tophat direct fallout at our age group at our club, some secondary fallout with 3 CF ECNL and an UFA Pre-DA player joining the top team and one GSA ECNL player joining the 2nd team.
6 more years here also. Happy where we're at, but next year I want her going to different coaches (hopefully at the same club).

From what I am figuring out is Concorde created a Composite 18/19 ECNL team with probably more then half Tophat girls. Seen a large number of them play and Concorde is getting some great players to add to the stable. Would not be surprised to see some of them get some time on the Plantium team.

I heard of a girl at AFU that was offered a spot on ECNL team and then the next day AFTER tryouts, she was called and told she no longer had the spot.
I did hear of 03 ECNL girls at NTH not wanting to play DPL and going to different clubs.
The older age group pretty much felt like it was their last year and didn't feel like making a change

Excuse my ignorance....what is a composite team?

Not part of the club or have a kid in this scenario. But from my understanding and what I read elsewhere
Composite teams are designed to provide additional players exposure. Travel to the same ecnl events but play at other sites. Expands the reach of ecnl,

Yes, that is what composite is. They have a bracket on the ECNL website as well. Pretty much travelled same schedule as the main ECNL team, often at the same fields with the same college exposure. Just did not go to the big showcases which was fine for us, and our season was done before Christmas break.

Maybe they filled with girls displaced from other 2003 ecnl clubs?

Maybe some of the other clubs will have a better chance in the 03 SCCL bracket now.
